Estranged father and daughter duo Angelina Jolie and Jon Voight have finally buried the hatchet, after Angie gave her dad a surprise Christmas Eve phone call.
The two had not spoken since June 2002, after Jon told T.V.’s Extra that he hoped his little girl would seek help for her “serious emotional problems”.
A source tells the National Enquirer that Angelina called her father while spending Christmas in New Orleans with partner Brad Pitt and their four children.
Says the friend: “It was a short call, but it meant the world to both of them. It was something for them to build on, and Jon couldn’t say enough good things about the way his daughter is conducting her life.”

good for them. glad to hear angie extended an olive branch to her dad, even if he did make public statements to the press about their private matters. forgiving is important and a necessary component to moving forward and getting on with life. and now with her mom gone, her dad is her only parent left. so it’s good to know they’ve reconciled.
now that she has kids she is realizing how import parents are.. that’s why she reached out.. i’m proud of her, its never to late to start over.

Yeah I think it’s nice. I always get mad at my dad for telling people what I do, what’s going on with my life and such… All the goods and the bad and the incorrects… Can’t imagine him telling the whole world that I am crazy, I’ll be angry but I will still talk to him, he’s still my dad.
I really hate people who say she was awfull for not talking to her father anymore because except little things we know we don’t now everything else and sometimes it’s better to be far from your parents (thinks Lindsey Lohan) Because you’re afraid they would hurt you again. But I’m glad she made the move, if it’s true, but still I don’t think people should have been so harsh about that because it’s their life and hurts.
When a parent betrays your trust, it is VERY difficult to get over; they are the person supposed to protect you, not hurt you. The fact she didn’t speak to her father is no suprise; I’ve done the same with my father over the same breach of trust. The fact she has made a decision to bring him back into her life is very BRAVE and HUMBLING. You basically have to let that barrier down and swallow your pride, whether you believe you were right or not. I’ve done it with my father and mother.. it’s sooooo difficult.. but definitely lifts a huge weight when you let go of that baggage. Maybe this will help her get healthier if she is fixing her spirit.

too bad the source is the ‘national enquirer’. i’d like to believe this story, but not until it comes from jon/angelina or from a more reliable news source.
I hope that this story is true. Ange went through a lot when her mother died, and it would be nice for her to have some family behind her. I think that Jon defiantely made mistakes talking about her private life, but hopefully they can just get over that so that her children can meet and spend time with their Grandpa.
Cool. I hope they can heal the hurt. I was always on the fence about this. Her dad said some unforgiveable things and his behaviour as an absent dad must have been so hurtful. But I also felt Angelina should try and see what kind of guy he is today. People change. Though, I did see him on Martha Stewart’s show and he came across as pretty aggressive and defensive. It was weird.
I hope this is true. The kids need a grandfather. But like many of you, I don’t trust the Enquirer.
