IN MEMORIAM

For all you fashionistas out there and anyone who has watched an episode of ‘Fashion Television’ or ‘Style with Elsa Klensch’, I have some sad news for you. (For the rest of you, bear with me.)

Stylist and one of my all-time favourite fashion gurus, Isabella Blow, a vibrant and often outrageous presence on the international fashion scene, has died. She was 48.

Her husband Detmar tells the AP that she died in the Gloucestershire Royal Hospital in western England. News reports said she had recently been diagnosed with ovarian cancer but speculation is rife she took her own life.

Isabella’s fabulous fashion critiques and even more fabulous hats will never be forgotten.

In honour of Isabella, may I present to you one of my all-time favourite photos taken by David Lachapelle featuring the talented fashion critic and BFF Alexander McQueen.

I’m really gonna miss her on FT. She was definetly one of my favorite fashion personalities.

Barks you’re definetly right to encourage people to get checked out. I know a girl who had it when she was only 18, and another who came down with it when she was 23. It’s rare to get it so young, but definetly a possibility. My friend who was 18 only had missed periods as a symptom, and she had a tumor the size of a softball on one of her ovaries. If you girls have ANY inkling something might not be right I really suggest you suck it up and get an exam. They suck, but it’s ALWAYS better to catch it early.

Sadly, fashion is now less colourfull and eccentric. I wonder who she willed her stash of hats too?

god cancer is a bastard. ovarian and cervical cancer along with bowel cancer are a lot more common cancers than people think (and hit pretty young as well) but are the easiest to pick up if you get a papsmear and a colonoscopy once a year. truly is right- just suck it up and be uncomfortable for a few hours a year that could save your life- it is such a small price to pay.
i am so sorry to hear about your mum barks but glad to hear about your strong wife!

48 is too fucking young to die.
