DJ AM DISHES ALL THINGS NOT NICOLE

DJ AM may be the one of the biggest names in the DJ world (thanks to a slew of famous girlfriends, including Nicole Richie and Mandy Moore), but in the upcoming issue of Glamour magazine, the “the fat kid from Philly” reveals he’s gone through abuse, rehab, abandonment and depression in his fight to stay sober.
DJ AM on being verbally abused as a child and then subsequently kicked out of his home at age 14: “I spent the next two years doing drugs every day, until I went to my mom and actually asked her to send me to rehab.”
DJ AM on his first rehab centre: “It was an abusive house of horrors.”
DJ AM on life after his first stint at rehab: “When I was 20, I started freebasing cocaine. For the next four years, that’s about all I did - with the exception of deejaying. At 24, I felt like my life was over.”
DJ AM on putting a loaded .22 in his mouth and cocking it in an attempt to end his life: “The gun didn’t go off.”
DJ AM on the current state of his life: “It’s been “9 ½ years since I’ve had a drink or taken drugs . . . but I’m still a drug addict.”

you know he was 300lb when he first started dating Nicole Richie.
She must have really loved him.
I think he is still in love with Nicole.
If you read Nicole book, only 3 people came to see her in rehab: Lionel Richie, Brenda Richie and DJ AM.
I think they are still in love,,,,What ya think?

Wow, I love his honesty. Not many celebs will admit that they are still using. He sounds like he has had one hell of a life. I think that Nicole and him should still be together actually, they made a really nice couple. I always remember one episode of the Simple Life where he came to visit her and her face just lit up, so cute.

Stephi, I don’t think he is still using. He said it’s been 9 and a half years since he’s used but he’s still an addict. Meaning once an addict always an addict even if you never do another drug again. He probably has to fight the craving all the time. Maybe I’m wrong but that’s how I read it. I agree Nicole and DJ had that certain something where you could “feel” their connection. I think they will always have a special place in each other’s hearts. I am just glad he took the right path and got out of that bad life.
