This just in: R&B songstress Brandy will not be charged with vehicular manslaughter following the fatal car accident she was in last year.

Spokesman Nick Velasquez said there was “insufficient evidence” for a jury to find her guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.

As you may recall, back on December 30, 2006, Brandy struck another vehicle from behind on an L.A. freeway, while driving her 2007 Land Rover at 65 mph, causing a chain reaction involving a total of four vehicles, including hers. Awatef Aboudihaj, a married mother of two, died in the accident.

No surprise here. Another celeb gets away with murder.

Hyde, anyone?

UPDATE: Brandy’s lawyer has issued a statement to TMZ: “We are extremely pleased that after a more thorough and extensive investigation by authorities, the Los Angeles City Attorney has determined that Brandy Norwood should not be charged with any crime whatsoever relating to the accident back in 2006.

“These past 12 months have posed an extraordinary hardship for Brandy and her family, who have been unfairly forced to live under a cloud of suspicion initially caused by the ill-advised and premature press release sent out by the California Highway Patrol accusing Brandy of wrongdoing before the police investigation was even finished. However, Brandy continues to be mindful that she was so fortunate to be uninjured in this accident and there was a life lost that should be remembered.”

I may be alone, but I think this WAS an accident. She wasn’t wasted, and it could have happened to anyone.

    LESSON HERE- DON’T FUCKING TAILGATE.

  2. ah Says:

This is a really bad pic of her…

  3. saywhut Says:

Agreed, PSL. Plus I read on TMZ that the now-deceased driver of the other car hit the car in front of her first, and that’s what caused the chain reaction.
Well, sad all around, no matter how it happened.

Why don’t these girls just stay off the roads? I think there should be a law in LA (and I live in LA) that if you are a moderatley successful and under the age of 30 you cannot drive.

  5. JaneSays Says:

I think you forgot to mention that it was determined that the deceased struck a car in front of her, thereby causing this the initial wreck and the ensuing pile-up it caused. It’s a most unfortunate tragedy. The deceased was also found to have traces of pot in her system. Under those two circumstances, it’s really easy to see why Brandy isn’t being charged. It’s a messed up situation for everyone involved; a person lost her life, Brandy had to live under intense media scrutiny until the charges were dropped and I’m sure it caused a tremendous amount of stress on both of these women’s families. I guess I’m missing the “another celeb gets away with murder”. Like, who? Lane Garrison, who had both coke and booze in his system when he killed that kid?

  6. Sean D Says:

SAYWHUT.. that is correct… Brandy did not set off the chain reaction, the woman who died did. SO, in this case, NO, not celebrity justice.. JUST PLAIN OLD JUSTICE.. now if only someone would do Brandy justice and pull this pic of her down.. HOLY HELL!!!

  7. Only 1 Says:

^^ that was me.. WTF is going on with the damn names populated?>?>>?

  8. Blake Says:

Damn that’s a bad pic of her, she looks f*cking ugly right there!!!

  9. Maria St. Vincente Says:

I don’t even like Brandy but I thought this post was so way off base. It wasn’t Brandy’s fault and that’s why she didn’t get prosecuted. HOw is that Celebrity Justice? God forbid if I was in an accident and somebody died, I would be exonerated if it came out that the other person caused the accident and I just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. Go back to picking on Britney. She probably deserves the blame. And use a better picture of Brandy. Poor thing looks like Celie from the Color Purple.

  10. BeJeeBus Says:

Only1 I second your post. Mostly about the picture.

  11. Ivy Says:

“JUST PLAIN OLD JUSTICE.. now if only someone would do Brandy justice and pull this pic of her down.. HOLY HELL!!!”

LMAO Oh thank you for making me laugh!! :)

  12. supernova Says:

Jesus Christ, there’s enough oil on her face to heat half the homes in america.

  13. Tee Says:

Sir/Madam, you forgot some of the facts. Like homegirl (lady that was killed) had already hit a car AND they found traces of marijuana in her blood. Might want to mention that before you call someone a murderer.

  14. Stephi Says:

Yes I do agree that this was an accident, BUT she still killed someone and she needs to pay for that. I’m sorry but I think that she should be going to jail. If someone claimed ‘accident’ every time somebody’s life was taken, it would just be a joke. While I feel very sorry for everyone involved in this, including Brandy, I still think that she should have been more careful.

  15. parissucksliterally Says:

Stephi, please read Tee, saywhut and JaneSays comments, before you spew that Brandy should be in jail.

  16. audrey Says:

Another woman causes an accident that kills her and Brandy does jail time because she died….sounds like you were imbibing in some holiday spirits Stephi to come out with that reasoning.

  17. curious Says:

Stephi somebody all ready paid. The woman who caused the accident died in it. Isn’t that enough?

  18. Stephi Says:

Sorry for jumping to conclusions there, I was unaware that the woman who was killed was actually the cause of the accident. Arasto seems to be leaving out a lot of vital facts these days. It’s still an unfortunate situation, I’m sure Brandy feels awful as does the family who lost a loved one.

  19. edwardo Says:

See people that comment from Stephi is just how people jump to conclusions before knowing the facts. Sometimes i think some people want to see certain people go to jail or fail, no wonder its so many of certain folks in jail, the woman had marijuana in her car, well hell, i didnt know that. damn !

  20. BeJeeBus Says:

” FOLKS?”. Who are CERTAIN folks? Please tell us how RACIST we all are. Please do, it’s been a while.

  21. anonymous Says:

I can’t believe people are commenting on how she looks in this photo… there are bigger issues at hand here. You are what is wrong with our society.

A tragedy is hard to handle for any family… its a natural reaction to want to blame someone.. but I truly don’t believe she was at fault in this situation… it was an accident.. there is a reason they call it that.

My best goes out to her and all the victims of this situation.

  22. Truly Says:

It was an accident, and I think justice is being served. Seriously, it could happen to anyone. I’m not a huge Brandy fan, but she’s not a murderer. She has to live with this for the rest of her life, what more do people want?

edwardo, unfortunatly your observation isn’t just in your mind. I took an American Minorities class last year, and there is a HUGE difference between sentences handed out between blacks and whites. Very depressing, especially concerning the death penalty :(

  23. edwardo Says:

Folks like you beejeebus can go str8 to hell! And folks like you can go douche out your anus, it smells way over here.

  24. edwardo Says:

BEJEEBUS YOU CAN KISS MY ASS ! FUCKING DUMB ASS TRANNY!

  25. edwardo Says:

TRULY WE ALL KNOW THAT BLACKS GET MORE JAIL TIME THAN WHITES, AND BEJEEBUS CAN STILL KISS MY ASS ANYTIME.
