Tom Cruise won a German film award on Thursday for his willingness to take risks in his new film Valkyrie which details the failed Operation Valkyrie plot to kill Adolf Hitler.

The “courage” prize was presented to the 45-year-old star during the 59th annual Bambi Awards ceremony today in the northern city of Duesseldorf, Germany.

Meanwhile, his beautiful armpiece Katie Holmes (who was clearly channeling her inner Anna Wintour with the new ‘do) was the consummate supporting wife praising her man at any given chance.

    Poor Katie. She’s looking worse and worse and worse. Then again, no career, married to Tom Cruise and mother of his kids. Let’s hope there was no prenup, but ‘t will be idle hope.

    I’ll give her credit for going for such a bold look, but I’m not loving it. I just want to tuck her hair behind her ears or something. It’s like she’s covering up half her face. Love the dress, though!

    I think she looks great. Am I crazy? I almost got my hair cut like that last week but I decided that it needs a darker and more solid haircolor than I have. Plus its a great look for an evening or a day but do you really want to be comitted to it till it grows out? But I do like it.

    The Bambi is an annual television and media prize awarded by the German media company Hubert Burda Media. It was created in 1948 and the first recipient was Marika Rökk. It is said that Rökk’s daughter called the prize “Bambi” when she brought it home, apparently inspired by Felix Salten’s book Bambi, A Life in the Woods. The prize was originally a deer made of porcelain.

    I think Katie looks stunning!! Very fashionable indeed! The haircut really works on her, unlike Kelly Osborne. I’ll be really interested to see this movie…I’m not a fan of Tom’s but I thought he was great in Lions for Lambs.

    Albeit the fact that they both look good, there’s just something very unnatural about these two. They’re both straining to smile and their body language is just so stiff.
