Striking film and TV writers joined with actors, other union members and even tourists for a last rally before contract talks resume next week with studios and producers.

Nearly 4000 people marched today down Hollywood Boulevard, accompanied at one point by a small brass ensemble from the musician’s union playing the theme song from Rocky.

R&B soulstress Alicia Keys was on hand to offer the crowd an impromptu performance of her new album from the back of a pickup truck.

Alicia Keys used a union rally to promote her new album? Tacky.

I’m not sure exactly what this does to help the cause or anyone but Alicia. I respect the people that are actually doing something to help - like those that have donated money to non-writers who are temporarily out of work - much more than the people who are using it for a tacky publicity stunt.
