Yesterday it was reported that parents-to-be Nicole Richie and Joel Madden are hosting a baby shower this Sunday.
Now Us Weekly says that the couple has asked their friends and family to bring cribs, strollers and stuffed animals to the party — but not for their bundle of joy but rather as a donation to the Richie Madden Children’s Foundation, the charity they created to help mothers in need.
Next month the charity will also donate dozens of Mom-to-Be kits to the Los Angeles Free Clinic.
First Britney Spears auctions off an autographed copy of her new CD for UNICEF and now this? Could charity be the new panty flash? Let’s hope so!

WOW…If this story is true, I never expected that from these two. I don’t like Nicole but I get the feeling her being a mom has changed her for the better.
That is a really neat idea! They don’t need anyone to decortate their nursery anyways so it is cool that they will donate all the gifts.
WOW.. I can not tell you how this warms my heart.. and I know that someone is gonna say “she’s just doing that for this reason or that reason” and try to put her or them down.. but this is WONDERFUL regardless the reason. DOING FOR OTHERS IS WONDERFUL! Good for them!
AND why would you not expect this from Joel? He’s actually a really down to earth guy and very spiritual. He grew up with my ex. Nicole, now her I wouldn’t expect this from two years ago.. but Joel and motherhood have done her VERY GOOD!

Christina and Jordy did something similar at their wedding- I really respect them for that.

i hope the story is true because that is very sweet. and if it’s for publicity, i don’t care either because it’s still helping someone else out.

If you read the Madden’s story of growing up super poor it’d break your heart. Good for Joel (and Nicole) for giving back when they both have so much.

Really true, Nino. I remember the first season of that show, she was really,really, really, obnoxious, shallow, rude, and bitchy. Poster girl for Hollywood douche. She really swanned out and did a 180 — hope it lasts. It couldn’t all have been for the cameras, could it?
That’s such a great idea!! I don’t care if she is doing it for publicity or whatever, the fact is that children and mothers in need are getting some help and love that they deserve. I really hope they keep up with this charity!
