After arriving back in L.A. over the weekend following weeks of being on location in Boston for his latest flick, Ben Affleck caught up on his role as father today (November 23) as he picked up his daugther Violet from school in Santa Monica, CA.
Dressed casually in sweats, the studly star effortlessy resumed his position as doting dad following weeks of being away from his family as he filmed and directed the upcoming crime thriller, The Town.
Meanwhile, Matt Damon says he was delighted to find out he is related to his BFF Ben - because the actor has always felt like family.
As you may recall, researchers from the New England Historic Genealogical Society delved back through the pair’s ancestry and uncovered a common 10th great-grandfather, William Knowlton, a bricklayer who hailed from 17th century Ipswich, England.
Now Matt tells the Boston Herald, “I always felt like we were kin. He always felt like kin. I remember when I got that story on my phone, I e-mailed it to him and at the same time he was e-mailing it to me.”
But the actor couldn’t help feeling envious when the research revealed Ben is also distantly related to President Barack Obama.
He adds, “And then, it turns out, Ben is even related to Barack Obama! I’m very jealous.”

Let’s give him a trophy.
I think he is a decent actor but he is looking really good latey! Being a dad is working for him!
Never found him the least bit good looking! Also, he got lucky being Matt Damon’s buddy. Matt Damon is where the talent is. Not this tool!
Matt would not have won an Oscar with out Ben.
Ben is still writing after “Good Will Hunting”.
Matt is joying some great acting opportunities.
Both look like great dads.
Ben and Matt are true friends. Their bond was formed during their childhood. I don’t think snarky Ben Affleck comments is going to make a bit of difference to them.
Ewww, he’s gross!
He is one hot dad! I agree with the above poster, Matt would not have won the screenwriting Oscar without Ben. Ben has the writing talent, not Matt. Although if Matt ever wrote something again for once, maybe he could prove me wrong.
A pacifier for a 4 year old????? she’s getting too old for one and is she starting to look ridiculous. They need to take the pacifier away not have it in the car, yes she’s going to cry and want it, they all do but it’s the only way to get her to stop using a pacifier.
