She said Oprah went to California this weekend “with a big bag of books” and was very happy to be able to spend the weekend reading. Gayle added Oprah cannot be replaced — as The New York Times notes — and she did not see herself filling Oprah’s shoes. “No, no, no.” She said, “I’m happy because I know for her it’s the right decision … she’s so at peace with it.”

I’m so sick of Gayle marching out and effectively behaving as Oprah’s mouthpiece. If Oprah didn’t want her talking it wouldn’t be happening. So if Oprah wants people to be told she’s “at peace,” why not just say that herself? Oprah pretends she doesn’t care what people thing, but she very much cares. Her first question to Palin proved that.
