Looking typically ravishing in a Badgley Mischka platinum evening gown, big screen beauty Nicole Kidman graces the December issue of Marie Claire magazine.
Inside the mag, the Oscar-winning actress dishes on everything from the ever-present paparazzi, eye surgery to life after one year of marriage.
Nicole on how her nearsightedness helped her deal with the paparazzi: “I never wore glasses except when I had to read a teleprompter at an awards show or drive, so I didn’t notice much. I could exist in my head. It was kind of my escape from the world and my protection.”Nicole on how LASIK surgery changed all that: “I was walking around legally blind. Now I have 20-20 vision. I can’t believe I spent so many years blurry, but I think that coincides with how I was feeling. Now I notice if people are watching me, but I also smile right back if someone waves, which helps.”
Nicole on her first year of marriage: “They say the first year of marriage is the hardest. Please, God — he’s the most important person in my life, and he says I am for him, and that’s where we’re at. We won’t go more than 12 days apart, ever. The time he went away to rehab was the longest time.”
Nicole on being 40 years old: “Yipee! I can’t believe I made it. It feels like a long haul to get here. I’m so fine with it. People want you to have some sort of breakdown, but I’m relieved to be 40 years old, and I’ve lived a life.”
Nicole on her kids, Isabella and Conner: “Yes, they’re being raised as Scientologists. I don’t want to go there.”

Why does she insist on staying with the blonde hair? It is too close to her skin tone.
I think this is the interview where she claims to be totally natural. Only sunscreen. That’s why her face looks completely different than when she was in “Days Of Thunder”. Hmmmmm, that’s some magical sunscreen.

PSL I think the whole “all natural” quote was actually rustled up from an older interview, not in this one. Even though she’s clearly had some work done and I don’t really like the blonde I think she’s been looking really good lately! I don’t know where this goodwill is coming from because I’m not even a fan of hers.

Yeah her lips do look different don’t they? I had never really noticed that before because I was too distracted by the botox. I find it very hard to beleive that she hasn’t had any surgery done.
It’s strange to me how closed up she is about her children. I haven’t seen her with them for years and I don’t think she seems to have anything to do with them. But then again…when was the last time you saw Tom with them? Seriously….WHERE ARE THEY?
I love her. Something about her still seems like the same old Nicole even after all the success she has had. The comment about her kids being raised Scientologists is pretty funny but also sad. Why does she have no say in how they are raised and what they are taught? It seems like he is one of those controlling men that you just have to run from and leave your kids behine just to regain some sanity. “Kate” has a lot to look forward to.

My goodness can you imagine the stuff that would come out in a messy Cruise/Holmes fight for Suri- you couldn’t make it up I’m sure! I do think its gross how Tom and Katie act like Suri is their only child- there must be some sibling resentment there!
Hmm stephi I’m pretty sure Nicole has custody of the kids every couple of months- I know I saw pics of her a few months ago with her son and daughter and niece in Australia- I just think because they live in Nashville she actually spends time with them at home rather than driving around just to be seen.

Kids rank that high, too….weird….. maybe she feels they aren’t really hers since they’re being raised as Scientologists. I read a little about it after reading all the “alien” jokes about Tom Cruise and came to believe it is a very difficult organization, with people becoming intense and unbalanced like Cruise now seems to be.

I agree Anonymous 8:06, I think my wife and I would both agree that our kids are the most important things in our lives, if she keeps them a top priority it makes me happy and vice versa. We’ll have forever together eventually, right now its all about them. Now that the kids are older and the boy is playing team sports it probably harder for them to go back and forth like they used to. I’m sure all their friends are in LA that’s probably where they want to be as well.

I think it is implied that the kids are important to her and when she says “most important person”, she is talking about people she chooses to be in her life — lovers, friends, coworkers. It’s kind of a different category from your children.
Also, she has said that she’s actually a natural blonde, and that she’d been dying her hair red for years, so maybe this is just part of her au naturelle philosophy! heh.

Stephi..not everyone loves to parade their kids infront of cameras u know.(like your fav). Just because u dont see her with her kids does not mean that she doesnt see them or that she’s closed up.

She has no say in how Bella and Connor are raised because she never sees them. But it certainly makes good reading to portray herself as the UberVictim — denied any maternal rights by that Evil Tom.
