In the upcoming issue of Ebony, the Glove One dishes on everything from his public persona to
Here’s a little summary:
MJ on his Whacko Jacko reputation: “I don’t pay attention to that. In my opinion, it’s ignorance. It’s usually not based on fact. … Every neighborhood has the guy who you don’t see, so you gossip about him. You see those stories about him, there’s the myth that he did this or he did that. People are crazy!”MJ on the Michael he was 25 years ago during the Thriller days: “That Michael is probably the same Michael here. I just wanted to get certain things accomplished first. But I always had this tug in the back of my head, the things I wanted to do, to raise children, have children. I’m enjoying it very much.”
MJ on success: “When you’re on top of your game, when you’re a pioneer, people come at you. … But I feel grateful, all those record-breaking things, to the biggest albums, to those No. 1s, I still feel grateful.”
MJ on the state of music today: “I don’t think people are being as experimental and innovative enough. I know people can easily say, `Well, we don’t have the Michael Jackson budget.’ Wrong, you can be so creative with almost nothing. And that’s usually the best stuff, when you strip it down to the bare minimum and go inside yourself and invent.”
MJ on his upcoming comeback album: “I always want to do music that influences and inspires each generation. Let’s face it, who wants mortality? You want what you create to live, and I give my all in my work because I want it to live.”
Meanwhile, Harriette Cole, the creative director of the magazine, told Meredith Vieira on Today this morning that he’s “very shy” but “normal.” She said, “From the time that I spent with him, what I got is that he’s a man. He’s 49. He’s a grown-up. If you learn from your challenges, then you become stronger. He certainly seemed like that. His voice is a bit lower. He came across really as kind of normal.â€
Ebony is expected to hit stands nationwide on Monday.

Paris’s voice goes from ultra high to low too, coincidence? And who really says “We don’t have the Michael Jackson budget”, give me a break. Obviously having that big of a budget isn’t going to improve your life, he’s broke and washed up.
He’s also a pedophile. I don’t understand why people still admire him when they know he abuses little boys. If he wasn’t a celeb, he’d have been locked up years ago.
I feel sorry for his kids because it seems like they have a strange life. I have never in my life worn as much makeup as he has on in the cover pic. I am a woman.
that picture is the biggest joke ever.
God, I loved this guy in 1983……..loved him. I also refused to believe it when he first was accused of molestation. When the second child came forward, I was done with him. DONE. I will never buy anything of his ever again.
I was done with him when he said he didn’t have plastic surgery.
I love him. I find him very intriguing and I think that people like thinking that he’s crazy. It’s good that he doesn’t let that get to him and just goes about his own life. He’s never been one to live his life in the spotlight and crave attention and because of that people need to make things up. I’m not saying that a lot of those things he does aren’t real I’m just saying that its good he doesn’t let it bother him. I’m really excited about his new album, I hope he just owns it and its as good as all his other music!
Stephi- who you kidding, his album will be a flop. What was the last successful single he released?
He came across as “kind of normal” and thats high praise. Ugh I’m with piper- he disgusts me.
i think it’s funny that he hates himself for his blackness and yet blacks love him.
you know what wall-mart and MJ have in common?
they both have boy’s underwear half off.
Of course he acts like an adult when he’s with adults, its how he acts when he’s with 12 year old boys that is grotesque.
When Thriller came out it sold about 33 million in the first year or two. Nowdays they try and say it’s sold over 100 million. This is complete bullshit put out there by Michael and his record company. How stupid do they think the public is, to assume it has sold that much in all these years, what horseshit!
“Well, we don’t have the Michael Jackson budget”. he really believe that he STILL is important to music industry, doesnt it? HAS BEEN !!!!!!!!!!
I STILL and ALWAYS WILL love the King of Pop - Michael Jackson. He seems to be a very humble human being considering everything that he has achieved over the past 4 decades, all the records he has broken, the the doors that he has opened for others and all the wonderful entertainment he provided the world.
Sure, he is a little ‘off the wall’ but who is without fault?
I told hold the accusations about Michael against him, he was acquitted in a court of law and that’s good enough for me.
I don’t read Ebony but I’ll definitely go buy an issue so I can see the spectacular photos and read whatever he has to say.
PS - I was the little girl in the 80’s who used to try to make herself faint at MJ concerts so that I could be passed to the front… my mom and I both grew up on MJ and we’d travel to various cities (NY, LA, Chi, etc) to see him on tour. I will ALWAYS be an MJ fan.
haha He looks like Katie Holmes.
Yep, I still LOVE him!!!!!!!!
O.J. was acquitted too, Beautiful One. Is that good enough for you too?
Freak. Show.
For the last time, he’s not “eccentric” or “off the wall”. He’s a freaking PEDOPHILE! He fondles little boys! What’s wrong with you people?
^ Sorry. This is an example of commenting on other people’s opinions and not the story. I apologize.
he sounds semi normal here, but he cant help show his overly narcissistic core which is at the root of his success and ultimate downfall.
.
there’s no hope of him changing.
I’m sorry but I stand by Michael. I believe he is innocen. Call me gullable and stupid, but I don’t think he has it in him. He appears to be such a good person and he is very humble when talking. I just don’t believe it. His new song “Let me let go” is good, and a good uptempo dance song, but of course it could never compare to him in his prime. I LOVE THIS MAN!!
Michael is a real Superstar!!!! He is great singer!

Ugh, he’s a FREAK. Ugly to the core. However, his Thriller album remains one of the best albums in music history. It’s truly a masterpiece. I just try to ignore the freak behind the music.
