After helping judge a beauty contest in Tokyo, Paris Hilton has taken her philanthropic concerns to India where she is spearheading a campaign to stop a herd of elephants from killing themselves - after becoming intoxicated on alcohol.
According to reports, “Paris was horrified to discover 40 of the animals were electrocuted after drinking rice-beer, which is brewed by locals in north-east India.â€
Animal lover Paris is urging Indian residents to keep their alcohol locked up, saying, “There would have been more causalities if the villagers hadn’t chased them away. And four elephants died in a similar way three years ago. It is just so sad.â€
P.Hil, who was spotted at the airport in South Korea today, added, “The biggest problems are in Assam and Meghalaya. The elephants get drunk all the time. It is becoming really dangerous. We need to stop making alcohol available to them.â€
Based on these statements, it might be a good idea to stop making alcohol available to Paris as well!

I thought that jailbait Hilton was going to help actual human beings in need. It turns out she is only interested in drunken animals. Why is this not surprising?
It is kind of funny that she said “we need to stop making alcohol available to them”. We need to stop alcohol from being given to celebs with car keys. But at the same time, it is a good cause, I just wish it wasn’t paris promoting it and making a big joke out of it. They need to lock up their wine, its disgusting that these animals are getting drunk, and nobody seems to be doing anything about it. The electric fence was illegal to have too, so the guy that built it will be getting into alot of trouble too, I hope. People treat animals with such disregard, its revolting to me. How can somebody be so cruel!

I hate how people are turning this into a joke. Yes it sounds funny that the elephants are getting drunk but its a serious problem and one that is killing a lot of those beautiful creatures. I think its good that Paris is trying to help out or at least raising awareness about the issue. Seems to me that whatever charity Paris supports people won’t take it seriously. That’s pathetic.
Give her a break. She’s not done anything stupid recently and is trying to HELP. Shit, she gets more criticism now that she wants to grow up than she ever did when she fed the media beast by going out every night. Isn’t that bizarre?

Agree with meaghan. And I haven’t seen any evidence that Paris “wants to grow up”. All I see is the same old publicity whore who’s discovered a new way to get her name in the news.
I actually agree with Stephi here, Paris should be commended for doing something like this. She’s actually doing something good for the elephants. First Hayden from Heroes trying to help the dolphins and now Paris with the elephants. I wish everyone in Hollywood would pitch in and do good for the planet, animals, etc.
