Former supermodel Cindy Crawford and her entrepreneur husband Rande Gerber are at the center of an extortion plot over a photo of their daughter bound to a chair and gagged.
A 26-year-old German man named Edis Kayalar was charged this afternoon (November 12) with trying to extort $100 000 from the celebrity couple. He was recently deported to Germany and believed to be in Stuttgart.
Kayalar was charged with one count of extortion. If convicted, he could face up to two years in prison.
As for how the photo of Cindy and Rande’s 7-year-old daughter bound to a chair wearing shorts and a T-shirt was purportedly taken? According to an affidavit filed in the case, the couple’s former nanny took the picture as part of a “cops and robbers” game.
Kayalar is said to have takent the photo from the nanny and repeatedly sought to get money from Cindy and her hubby. He threatened to sell or release the photo to the media if his demands weren’t met.
A rep for Cindy says: “Rande Gerber and Cindy Crawford intend to pursue any and all available legal action against anyone who aids the perpetrator in the distribution or sale of the photograph of their daughter.”

This is disgusting that someone would use a little girl to try and make money out of her parents. The photo probably shouldn’t have been taken in the first place, but it also was obviously not intended to be taken for anything else other than fun. There’s been issues with their daughter before right? In a bikini?
Yep Stephi, there was a picture with the kid wearing a ‘tramp stamp’ tattoo. These guys need to get a little more sensitive about what is appropriate for a child. This picture shouldn’t have been taken…
Blah- those photos ENRAGED me! The whole shoot for the catalog totally tried to sexualize those 6 year old girls. I have not been able to stomach Cindy ever since then.
I agree completely. Those pics from a couple years ago were disgusting. It kills me that now they want to sue when they approved of the bikini shots. If you don’t put your child out there like that to begin with it leaves less room for crap like this to happen.
