Putting on a brave face, Kelly Preston, John Travolta and their daughter Ella Bleu Travolta attended the premiere of Old Dogs in Hollywood on Monday night (November 9).

Held at the El Capitan Theatre, the Walt Disney Pictures production marks nine-year-old Ella’s acting debut.

The aspiring actress plays one of two six-year-old twins who are cared for by two old men, a divorcee played by Robin Williams and a bachelor, played by her father.

The movie, which also stars Seth Green, Rita Wilson and Matt Dillon, is due out next year.

Meanwhille, John says Scientology helped him and his wife cope with the January death of their 16-year-old son Jett.

“We’ve been working very hard every day as a family to heal,” he said during a round-table interview with the cast of his latest film. “We have our own way of doing it, and it has been helping.”

The 55-year-old actor added that he has been overwhelmed by all the support.

“You need your friends a lot in times like that,” he said.

Kelly added: “The outpouring of love from, really, worldwide has been extraordinary. It’s been our friends, our family, our church. We partake in spiritual counseling pretty much daily. It’s a tricky thing. Sometimes, something that’s right for the moment is not right the next day. Being with people who are important to you, being with people that you love, I think that’s what has primarily helped us the most. Sometimes, being alone, too.”
