Makeup queen Tom Cruise has been blitzing the media with appearances this past week, from the L.A. premiere of Lions for Lambs to a slightly bizarre appearance on MTV’s Total Request Live this afternoon, where he tried to hip it up with his young costar Michael Peña.

Meanwhile, rumours are buzzing that Tom and his Scientology henchmen encouraged wife Katie Holmes to run the New York City Marathon knowing full well it would coincide with his movie release.
Too diabolical? Or just another crazed publicity stunt from Camp Cruise?

Hey, maybe the Scientologists arranged for the NY Marathon to be held that weekend just because Tom’s movie was being released. Hell, maybe the Scientologists FORCED Katie to run the marathon! Maybe they arranged for hundreds of Scientologists to run in formation around Katie so she couldn’t escape! Maybe the whole purpose of having a New York City marathon is to make the Scientologists look good! Or maybe some people need to develop some hobbies besides smoking crack and looking for Scientology conspiracies.

I love the fact that there are actually people who think the ‘youth of today’ should see a movie like this seeing as the content is very relevant but they needed to throw in Jake Gyllenhaal or something because there’s no way a notorious couch surfer who has been ridiculed on so many popular shows that are marketed at the TRL audience; is going to win new viewers.
