Carrie Underwood was all smiles as she visited the Ed Sullivan Theater in New York City today (November 2) to tape tonight’s installment of the Late Show with David Letterman.

Blending casual with fabulous, the hitmaking country star donned a down-stuffed vest, ruffled blouse, fitted jeans and animal print Christian Louboutin pumps as she arrived to a herd of supportive and autograph-seeking fans.

Carrie is currently making the proud promoting her upcoming album, Play On. The American Idol champ’s first two albums have sold well enough that a good first week for her third, out Tuesday –- could push her past the 10 million mark!

Says Carrie of her new album: “I wanted to get out of my comfort zone. I’d take some other small element and bring it into our world to see what we could do with it. Sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn’t, but I think it ended up being different and progressive.”

Expect Carrie to perform her latest hit single, Cowboy Casanova, on tonight’s broadcast.
