Not only is Jessica Simpson not dating Gerard Butler, but it appears her chances of reuniting with Nick Lachey have been dashed now that he’s back with Vanessa Minnillo.
It’s been claimed that the unlucky-in-love starlet was hoping that her then-missing and now-dead dog Daisy would former flames together again.
Upon hearing that Nick and Vanessa were back on again, Jessica is said to have “suffered a major meltdown.”
“Jessica is at an all-time low since her recent breakup with Tony Romo and the disappearance of her most cherished companion, Daisy,” a source tells Fox 411. “She somehow got it in her head that Nick and her would reunite over losing Daisy, since [Daisy] is really Nick’s dog too.”
It appears that Jessica found out about Nick and Vanessa’s reunion earlier this month in Las Vegas.
“She was supposed to have a fun Vegas weekend for her sister Ashlee’s birthday party at Wet Republic in the MGM Grand,” the insider says. “But the only thing that ended up being wet was Jess’s pillow as soon as she found out Nick and Vanessa were staying at the Venetian right next door for Lavo’s anniversary party.”
The souce adds: “She was not expecting them to get back together, and she took it pretty hard. Jess can’t handle it. She thought there was maybe a chance for her and Nick in light of their breakups. Jessica thought the timing was just right.”

I’ve been there not crying tho but hoping there could be a reconcilation she is much better off trust me it’s just not meant to be I know I’m waaaaaayyyy better off and I actually feel sorry for this now girlfriend he’s not the best catch!

This sounds like crap, but I do think that Jessica probably does regret breaking up with Nick. He put up with a lot from her and really seemed to love her and was a good husband. I think her career went to her head during Dukes of Hazzard and she thought she could do without him. Kind of sad. I wish the press would leave her alone though, I’m sure she’s not as miserable as they make her out to be.
