Firstly, Bronson Pinchot (yes, of Perfect Strangers fame) is accusing the 48-year-old actor or being a rampant homophobe back when they filmed Risky Business together. Tom was 20 and the actor otherwise known as Balki was 23. “He was tense and made constant, constant unrelated homophobic comments,” he tells A.V. Club. “Like, ‘You want some ice cream, in case there are no gay people there?’ I mean, his lingo was larded with the most… There was no basis for it. It was like, ‘It’s a nice day, I’m glad there are no gay people standing here.’ Very, very strange.”
Meanwhile, director Mary Harron tells Black Book magazine that she base Christian Bale’s character in American Psycho on Tom after seeing an old appearance on The Late Show with David Letterman. “One day (Bale) called me and he had been watching Tom Cruise on David Letterman, and (Tom) just had this very intense friendliness with nothing behind the eyes, and he was really taken with this energy,” she says.

Classic closet case
Oh dear, Arasto–you used a question mark. When you must have meant to use an exclamation point.
well he definitely has that psychotic stare in that picture
oh yeah, i forgot i was once an extra on one of his movies… tom didn’t interact with extras but the crew (they worked on several of his movies) had nothing but nice things to say about him. they said what a genuinely nice guy he is. so it may have just been’s balki’s own issues that were projected. i don’t know, it is just one person’s perspective from 20 or so years ago.
Awwwwwww hasbeen belki want him some publicity.
Bla! What kind of story is that?
i think arasto is trying to say he wants to pound tom cruise.
Well, if what Balki says is true it’s possible Tom had homoerotic feelings and this was his way of being a self-hater and fighting off the urges. It’s kind of sad. For sure Tom is intense, but it’s what makes him such a talented actor. And think what you want he is that.
The lady doth protest too much.
slow news day huh.
Isn’t that how most ppl talk? Hope that guy serving me soup isn’t gay! Am I right???
Tom Cruise is definately an interesting character, but I don’t think he’s as bad as people make it. I think it’s become a thing to think that Tom is crazy. If he had not been a scientologist, I doubt have the claims made about him would have ever been made. He’s an easy target as well because he has a very intense personality and he’s said some very strange things over the years. I wouldn’t be surprised if he was sexually attracted to men but had just never acted on it.
Shouldn’t that be psychotic homosexual?
