Kids really do say the darndest things.
Proof? A New Orleans fourth-grader named Tyren Scott was rather blunt yesterday (October 15) when he asked President Barack Obama a question about the current ill-mannered state of politics. “Why do people hate you?,” he asked the president, adding that folks are “supposed to love you. And God is love.”
Obama’s answer? “Well, now, first of all, I did get elected president, so not everybody hates me,” he responded. “But you know, what is true is if you were watching TV lately, it seems like everybody’s just getting mad all the time … I think that you’ve got to take it with a grain of salt. Some of it is just what’s called politics, where, you know, once one party wins, then the other party kind of feels like it needs to poke you a little bit to keep you on your toes. And so you shouldn’t take it too seriously.”
He added: “And then, sometimes, as I said before, people … (are) worried about their own lives. A lot of people are losing their jobs right now. A lot of people are losing their health care or they’ve lost their homes to foreclosure, and they’re feeling frustrated. And when you’re president of the United States … you’ve got to deal with all of that … You get some of the credit when things go good. And when things are going tough, then, you know, you’re going to get some of the blame, and that’s part of the job.”
Obama closed with: “But, you know, I’m a pretty tough guy. Are you a tough guy? You look like you’re pretty tough.”

I like that this kid asked this question and I think that Obama handled it very well. He didn’t dodge it and laugh it off, he answered it well and I think that he is right. Iy can’t be easy to be the President because you really are never going to please everybody. Even though I’m an Obama supporter I haven’t agreed with everything he has done.

He is a calm and wise voice amid the ignorant rhetoric. He is unruffled by the vituperative catcalling. I think he irritates most people because he is so sure footed and intelligent that they can’t handle it. He has done more to restore the image of this country in ten months than a dozen men would have been able to do in 2 years.
And the American public has the attention span of a gnat. They can’t seem to remember that it was George Bush who created the economic, military and social disintegration we are facing.

Of course someone always has to mention his race when the hate word comes up. Sorry to tell you alicia, but the reason I “dislike” our president has nothing to do with the color of his skin. That’s a real copout on your part. That’s just as ignorant as saying people hated Bush because he was white. The man isn’t perfect, now deal with it and stop throwing the race card around!
Seriously. The political ramblings I read from some of you guys on a daily basis is beyond the realm of common sense. Some of you Americans need to stop throwing around the term Socialist without at the very least wikipedian it. Canadians have universal health care and we are by no means considered socialists. Universal health care is humane. Denying your fellow americans access to proper medical care - that’s beyond comprehension.
I guess because you guys pay for each medical visit, it can be quite costly to get those noggins fine tuned, eh?
There will always be two sides combating in the states where neither will ever be content with who’s in power. And yet you fight with such passion for your side that you know little about. You also have a relatively small population compared to us.
Those taxes are there to reassure me that should I fall ill, should my family or friends fall ill, I can rest assured that they’ll be provided basic medical healthcare.
I’m sure you can’t argue with the fact that if you lost your job during this recession and fell ill with an uninsurable illness before finding a new job, you’d be of a very different opinion.
It’s those blanket generalizations that are blinding you from the facts that not just ‘lazy fat asses’ and illegals are in need of this system.
It’s all relative once everyone’s contributing so, contrary to public belief, in this case, size doesn’t matter.
If you were self reliant - you’d still be using the bartering system. The value of the dollars you work for depends entirely on the economy - imports, exports, deals made by the government with other countries’ government….
If you don’t want government involvement, get rid of your social security number, phones, media, drugs, and, to avoid paying property taxes, live illegally on someone else’s farm land. Oh - but wait - then you would technically be classified as one of those ‘freeloaders’ you speak of.

Many of my neighbors have given up all together on canada and are happier here, but are worried that the US is going the way of your country or even worse european style taxation.
In addition the obamacare bill has nothing to do with compassion or helping anybody.
It is plain and simple Government control of almost every aspect of our lives.
He is vanishing the middle class at break neck speed by overloading the system with govt. dependent voters.
