Taking a break from the daily demands of their careers, Mel Gibson and his pregnant girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva enjoyed a romantic afternoon date in New York City yesterday (October 14).

After wining and dining on traditional bistro meals, the lovebirds were seen leaving Balthazar restaurant in the uber hip SoHo neighbourhood.

Mel and his 39-year-old lady love were likely celebrating recent news that his 2006 conviction for drunk driving was expunged from his record after he completed the terms of his sentence.

Meanwhile, after taking a long hiatus from the big screen, Mel is set to make a comeback in the upcoming flick Edge of Darkness.

A trailer has finally been released for the new Martin Campbell-directed thriller which stars Mel as a former Boston detective whose daughter is murdered, causing him to take matters into his own hands by searching for her killer.
