Greeting fans and photos with a smile and a wave, Mariah Carey attended an autograph signing to promote her latest album, Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel, at EVAN Records in Seoul, South Korea today (October 14).
Dressed in head-to-toe black, the 39-year-old songstress spent nearly two hours greeting and signing autographs for her many admirers before jetting off to her next promotional event.
Meanwhile, Mimi’s singing (or lack thereof) has apparently disappointed her South Korean fans.
The Obsessed singer appeared on You Hee-yeol’s Sketchbook, a popular live music show hosted by You, last night. She performed two tracks, I Want to Know What Love Is and H.A.T.E.U, but instead of singing live as many anticipated, she lip synched both of them in front of an audience who packed the studio.
This marks the first time ever that an artist has opted to lip the words to the track as it plays over the sound system.
Writes one local blogger: “We are aware that she is an international star, but lip synching on a live show is unacceptable. The rumours that the sound equipment was not good enough just seem like an excuse.”
The show will air on local network KBS on October 23.

I don’t know why she keeps lip synching. I saw her on The View last week and her voice sounded amazing. Maybe she is “saving it up” for some big appearance coming up?

I feel for Mariah this time. She can never please people; either she sounds crap live (compared to years ago) or she needs to stop lipsynching.

I agree my2cents. There has to be a reason because if there’s anyone who doesn’t need to lip synch it’s her. Her album is the shit, too.
It’s certainly NOT the first time she’s ever lip synced. She’s certainly not like Britney in that she ALWAYS lip syncs but she has definitely done it. Her album is shit, not the shit.
First of all, this article is crap and makes me upset. Mariah’s talent, contributions and music accomplishments CANNOT be touched. She has sang and performed THOUSANDS of times live. Not to mention recording all these albums, touring, promotion, writing and showing off a voice that no one in this world can match. If she did lip this performance, I don’t hate her for it. She still, remains to be #1 in my book.
