STAR JONES INJECTS RACE INTO ROMAN POLANSKI DEBATE

star-jones-polanski

Celebs continue to weigh in on jailed Roman Polanski.

“I have no sympathy for him,” Star Jones tells sleazebag tabloid show, The Insider. “He’s in jail. Three hots and a cot, that’s what you’re supposed to get. Something tells me Spike Lee would not have been allowed to chill in France for the last three decades had he admitted to having sex with a 13-year-old.”

She goes on to say, “Roman Polanski is very much loved by the Hollywood industry and they are out there putting petitions together… Because he [Polanksi] is white and he is rich, he was privileged.”

She added on Twitter this morning: “‘Race’ is only a part of the Polanski debate. It’s race, class, gender, privilege & a sense of entitlement that is at the core.”

Why do americans (or some) always relate everything to race? From hairstyles to courtcases. The more they keep bringing it up, the more it seems to me the persons themselves have problems with it. (i am not ‘white’, there, i made race a case too)

I’m so sick of the race card.
Somehow having more blacks in power than any other country including the prez is not enough.
What next slave reparations for sins of past generations, give a F@#$%^ing break.
Entertainment and government has disproportionately more blacks compared to sum total of the population …

I agree with Star Jones. Well done for speaking out and not cowering with fear like usual for black people. It’s ALWAYS about race, and it’s only ignorant, racist white people who sit on their high horse and say otherwise.

Star Jones is an idiot who would have never appeared on The Insider 3 years ago. She has nowhere to go.

Did she not thing about how race played into OJ Simpson getting away with double murder?

You can’t cry race when race doesn’t pan out for you but remain quiet when it works to your advantage.

Not that I had much, but I have lost all respect for Star Jones.

I don’t know how you can take a crime against a European white child perpetrated by a European white man and turn into an AMERICAN race issue. How the fuck do American race politics get dragged into this issue? It’s a case for other courts, not ours.

You people (and that bitch Star Jones) are pulling this race issue out of your collective asses.

@ Shut the hell up, anyone who uses that pathetic term “the race card” is a fucking racist who doesn’t want anyone to ever point out racism and thus it will continue unabated, which is what these fucking racists want.

So you’ve got a black president, what more do you want - equality to whites? Geddoudahere! That’s what you’re saying, you red neck mofo!

Yeah, and Jen C, we all know how much more advantaged black people are than white people, you dickhead. And I’m swearing because you racists would make a saint swear.

Perhaps if the race card (yeah, I said it) wasn’t played at EVERY FUCKING OPPORTUNITY, it wouldn’t be viewed with the disdain that it is.

It’s beyond ridiculous to bring race into this issue. Star Jones has all the credibility of that idiot Al Sharpton for doing so.

Now if you want to bring sexism into this issue, go right ahead–it’s damn relevant. Classism? Sure–that applies here as well. But racism? Please. Not a fucking chance.

Star is looking even uglier than usual in the picture above. (You notice I am completely avoiding the race issue here–taking the high road)…..LOL

@ Anonymous, if you cannot see how glaringly obvious it is that black people including celebrities are treated so differently to white people, then you are thick as shit, or just don’t want the truth to be told.

If Polanski was black, I doubt many celebs would be sticking up for him. If you can say with your hand on your heart that is untrue, then your nose will shoot out.

And BTW, I actually don’t think Polanski should be extradited.

    RE: MikeC

You racist bastad!! How dare a white man denigrate a black woman’s appearance! She is a Nubian Queen, and don’t ever let your Cracker white trash ass forget it!

    Giggle.

    >If Polanski was black, I doubt many celebs >would be sticking up for him.

Well, then, I officially declare this whole Polanski issue a crime against Asians!

Because if Polanski were Asian, I doubt many celebs would be sticking up for him.

So this whole issue is really about Asians, Mimi–not blacks. Blacks have nothing to do with this. It’s Asians who are being treated differently here!

Focus: So, does anyone see how substituting ‘Asian’ for ‘black’ makes Mimi’s (and Star Jones’) whole argument full of shit?

Yeah, I thought so. That concludes your lesson in playing the race card for today, folks!

@ just askin’, your argument is so intelligent and coherent … NOT.

Race card, schmace card. Red neck twat!

just askin’ makes perfect sense as do some of the other comments on this thread. Mimi however, is making no sense at all. I am quite positive no one in Switzerland is wringing their hands over whether Polanski is white, asian or black. That is not the issue & it has no place here. A crime was committed. This concerns justice, not race. Star Jones is an idiot for the pulling the race card. Totally inappropriate.

Shut the hell up: Thank you for bringing up MJ, the comparison to his case is a perfect example of the HIPOCRACY in Hollywood.

How is it that a man hat admits having sex with a little girl can flee the country, enjoy 30 years of freedom and have everyone and their dog sucking up to him, trying to get him off the hook, blaming the girl…
At the same time a man who denied all charges, stood up in court where it was proved he was innocent, he walked out a free man and should have been vindicated; yet everyone turned their backs on him… and to this day, after his death they still point the finger at him, why? because he was a little weird?… that did not made him guilty, but no one gave a flying fuck about the truth anyway.

Justice should be served to Polanski. It is amazing the people that are behind this man…like…Whoopi Goldberg etc. Michael Jackson has nothing to do with this case.

And im suppose to be the racist up in here.. i wont even comment on this .. !!

Not to defend his actions, but how is Polanski priviledged? Does Star Jones even know anything about his past? Has she even bothered to read about his life?

I guess ignorance can be really bold.

  23. October-13-2009 @ 7:42 pm

she tried to say it wasn’t the race card.. bull shyt. She says Polanski got away with it cause he is privileged and white. Like Spike isn’t privileged… then on e.t. she’s blabbing and then says that spike is privileged and all that… leaving the color of skin the only difference,, but oh she wasn’t playing the race card

Um, yeah, not so much. When an issue is clearly not about race, why is it brought up? Everything is not always about race- maybe for the speaker above it is, but not for most people. Star should not bait people into arguments just to keep herself relevant. Keep your card, Star. No one wants it and no one is listening. Yawn.

it seems that this has turned to a race thing. persons like Leonard Pitts (Buffalo News), Jamie Foxx, Star Jones and many others are trying to “hang” Mr Polanski. welcome to the Obama age….

Come on folks, the man raped a child, that is not ok. I can agree with you all that Star should not have made this a race issue but there are many cases where that applies. Just playing devils advocate with my people, look at Robert Kelly he is black and got away with sexing and peeing on a child. When you have money, alot of things no longer are about race but how much money you have. Again Polanski needs to pay and this is not a race issue and should not have been said by star.

Oh Please.. What about OJ getting away with murder?? Ms Star should concentrate on her career and stop comments on race related issues to make Publicity for herself. She is the Jon Gosselin of tv lawyers
Get a life Ms Star, and get back on your diet.. you look kind of pudgy
