The Hannah Montana star reportedly spent $70 on food for herself and her sister Brandi at the Outback Steakhouse in New York City recently, but didn’t leave any gratuity.
“She pulled an envelope of money out and handed a $100 note over – but she kept all the change,” a source tells the New York Daily News.
Miley’s spokesman has since insisted the 16-year-old singer/actress had made a genuine mistake in failing to add a service charge. “Miley didn’t know she was supposed to tip unless she was eating inside,” says a rep.

I personally don’t think you should tip too unless you are eating there. If I’m just picking up food, why tip?
But the again if I was loaded I would.
I don’t tip if you’re picking up food.
I don’t tip if I’m picking up food!…even if you are loaded…come on now…I don’t care for the girl but this is a bit much if she was picking up the food for takeout no tip…
I don’t tip either when picking up take out. Isn’t that the point?
Stupid story.
Nobody tips when they’re just picking up food. I work at a restaurant and I never expect a tip for pick-up orders. Wait staff are only tipped when the customer eats at the restaurant.
well she is a white gal from the south and is christian right?
that’s why this is a story.
Don’t they automatically ADD gratuity to the bill in the States? I thought they did but I could be mistaken.
shell, in my experience, only when you have a party 4-6 or bigger.
Shell- Not on take out because I believe an extra luxury tax is added on but I might be mistaken.
Was she eating at the little tables outside the place? I’ve done that a few times and unless I have somebody “waiting” on me and bringing me drinks then I don’t tip. What’s the purpose in tipping some slob at the bar who just hands me a bag of food? Am I supposed to tip at McDonald’s too?
