Ryan Phillippe happily played the role of family man and he and girlfriend Abbie Cornish took his kids Ava and Deacon to a Halloween party in Brentwood, CA yesterday (October 11).

While the hunky actor and his lady love watched on while snacking on some cotton candy, young Ava and Deacon could be seen taking turns on a rented trampoline.

Meanwhile, though it’s usually Ryan whose getting the big screen praise, critics are continuing to buzz about Abbie’s role of obsessive Franny Brawne in the much-taked-about period flick Bright Star.

Says one critic: “The spectrum of emotion she portrays is impressive. At the end of the film, as she grips the banister, the audience realizes the intense pain of unrealized love through her anguished moans.”

Adds another: ” It’s unlikely that Bright Star will generate such generous notice from the academy, but Campion could be nominated anew for screenplay and Cornish for best actress.”
