Lane Garrison is headed to prison for three years and four months.

The ‘Prison Break’ star was sentenced today in L.A. for a drunken driving crash that killed a teenager last December.

In accordance to California’s Work Time/Good Time early release program, he will likely be in state prison for about 20 months.

Before the ruling, Lane apologized to the family of the 17-year-old Beverly Hills High School student he killed. “I’m sick of my own behavior that night,” he said. “This remorse is genuine. I feel it every day.”

Our thoughts on the sentence? Does the punishment fit the crime?

I feel like he is honestly remorseful, and because of that, I feel bad. BUT it was his behavior that caused someone to die, so it’s his duty as a remorseful individual to pay the consequences. We all know if someone could reverse the night, it would have been done. All he can do now is learn, pay, and never forget.

I do feel bad for him because he does seem really devastated by his actions. Sometimes we make mistakes and get away with them because we don’t get caught or they only effect us. Other times people are not so lucky and they have to pay the price. That will be a really long two years!

I feel sad for the pain he’s goign to be going through but Im happy about the justice. I have lost three friends to drunk driving, and a grandpa. Its a serious problem, and very sad. I’m glad he’s going to prison, maybe a celeb case like this will open peoples eyes to how much alcohol effects everything you do, not just your driving. Drink safe people!

If he is truly remorseful, then his sentence isn’t something that will be served behind bars, it’s living with the knowledge of what he did every hour of every day for the rest of his life.

    He seems genuine.

Now THAT’s what I call justice. Maybe all of those other spoiled asshole hollywood brats will get a clue and not drink and drive.

Only three years for taking a life?
He drank, knowingly got behind the wheel and then crashed into someone and killed them..
I am sorry, that’s murder regardless of how bad you feel about it.
And the fact that he will only have to serve 20 months is disgusting, a year and some change, nice. I am sure that will make the 17 year old boys family feel extra special when they go to sleep at night.
    Fuck LA, that’s pathetic.

When you drink to much; drive a car and someone gets killed—look out cause your going away. Three years is going to go by real slow for this fool.

If he stays out of trouble, he won’t serve 3 years, more like 1 1/2 then out on parole. California and the other states growing in population can’t keep up w/ the population growth so the prisons are overcrowded.

I think this is an appropriate sentence as it was an accident (caused by his undeniably disgusting behavriour). A friend of mine was killed by a drunk driver and the man got a suspended sentence which really stung but Wychanca is right- he has the live every day with the fact that he killed a young man just like we have to live with the fact that every year we get older our best friend doesnt. It doesn’t help to be bitter and seek revenge by destroying another life.

i feel sorry for him because i do believe he is genuinely remorseful, although i do wish the sentence would actually be greater for deterrent purposes..

A 17 year old kid lost his life because of him, and all anyone is saying is “He really does seem sorry, I feel bad for him.”
Again, a 17 year old kid lost his life because of him. He drank, he got into his car, he started the engine and drove away, ending his night in the kids death.
You all feel bad for him? Get your head’s on right and feel bad for the kid and his family, not the guy who took his life away from him.

Wow. That is a big deal. Three years is a long time to go to jail. I have mixed feelings about this though. I beleive that when you get into a car after drinking alcohol, you are responsible for whatever happens because of it. But I think sometimes your whole judgements can be blurred because of the alcohol and you can think you are a lot more sober than you actually are. It’s an awful situation and I really do beleive he is sorry for what happened, but he knew that getting behind the wheel drunk he was taking a big risk. A teenager lost his chance at life, the least Lane can do is give up three years of his own.

The family of the victims received justice. He got a bigger punishment than most and I hope he doesn’t appeal.

Finally - a hollywood drunk driver gets some kind of punishment - even if its a pittance.
