Snapped by Annie Leibovitz on a beach in Malibu, the women of Nine – Nicole Kidman, Marion Cotillard, Penelope Cruz and Kate Hudson – grace the November cover of Vogue.
A few highlights from the interview:
Director Rob Marshall on musicals of yesteryear: “I was born in the wrong time. I wish I’d lived in the MGM era, when they churned out musical films one after another.”
Nicole on acting: “I had no desire to work after I had my daughter, but to lure me back, this movie was the only way.”
Kate on preparing for this role all her life: “I spent most of my childhood singing and dancing and just never had the chance to do it professionally. So when I got the chance to work with Rob, I was so excited, I was out of my mind.”
Marion on doing a musical: “It’s been my dream to do an American musical. When I was a child, Annie was my favorite. I just never thought I would get to do it.”
Penelope on her career: “I’ve been working since the age of seventeen, and I really haven’t stopped. I want to balance it a little more. Instead of making three or four movies a year, I will do one.”
Producer Harvey Weinstein on the film: “I’ve made more than 100 movies, but I’ve never, ever made a movie like this. I’ve been working on Nine for nearly five years.”

so these twats (except for marion) get the cover while a living movie star legend and a brilliant actress get relegated to the back pages? fuck that.
Major flop ahead.
what is going on with nicole kidmans face…penolpe is the only one who looks attrative in this photo.
I thought what’s her face…what’s her name Katiebot Holmes was trying to audition for this?? What….this just in…. Another movie Tommy Lawnjockey didn’t want her in….well f*ck me sideways…..that was “news”.
I can’t wait to see this movie!! I hope it doesn’t disappoint! I think this cover could have been a lot better, you can tell that they aren’t actually all there together which is a bit lame. Kate Hudson in particular has definately been photoshopped in there. And Nicole had no desire to work? Yeah right! She had movies lined up as soon as she had her baby. She was filming Australia while her baby was on the set and then she went straight to film this. Nobody was FORCING her to work. She made the decision herself. I get the feeling she really isn’t a natural as a mother at all.
One talented actress after another…then comes kate hudson?!? How the hell did she sneak in there? You’ve got to be kidding me!
Where the hell is Miss Loren?
And another thing, I thought Anna Wintour was such a perfectionist? Was she drunk when she approved this cover.
VICTORIA BECKHAM SHOULD BE THERE!!!!!
This cover is horrible, they photoshopped the hell out of it! They don’t even look like they’re really standing next to one another.
