Hester reportedly had an internship on the show in the early ’90s. At the time she was a student at NYU.
Hester says during a hiatus, Dave called her up and asked her to the movies. It began a series of secret dates, with no one on the staff having any idea.
She says, “I was madly in love with him at the time. I would have married him. He was hilarious.”
Reps for the late night funnyman have made no comment.
Meanwhile, Thursday’s Late Show, featuring the host’s extraordinary discussion of an extortion attempt over his sexual relationships with staffers, drew 5.8 million viewers, doubling the average for rival Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien, which preliminary Nielsens pegged at 2.4 million.
Letterman’s total bested the 5 million he averaged for all of the previous week, when President Barack Obama was a featured guest.

Anybody knows that any train wreck of a scandal is going to get a temporary spike in the ratings.
So why put a happy face on such a family tragedy.
Sexual harrassment is also a crime.
Why are reporters concerned about ratings, when Leno kicked his asssss for two decades and doubled the ratings.
Yet Leno was paid less.
Dave is was so angry he didn’t get the carson gig, that he gave himself a heart attack.
Well maybe he needs another one about now for hurting his family
