The author who has been working with Britney Spears’ mom, Lynne, on ‘Pop Culture Mom: A Real Story of Fame and Family in a Tabloid World,’ says the book isn’t a tell-all, but rather a mother’s view of a child thrust into the spotlight.
Lorilee Craker tells her local paper, The Grand Rapid Press: “Lynne, first of all, is a wonderful person. She is one of the kindest, most decent people, and very down-to-earth. People would be amazed at how normal she is, but she’s living in this sort of surreal life at the same time.”
She adds: “One thing I do want to make clear is that she’s not a stage mom. People are so accusatory toward her and so judgmental of her, and it just drives me crazy because I know the real her.”
Our thoughts? Is this just some much needed damage control or merely a true character witness stepping forward? You decide!

I honestly feel bad for her. This is what her daughter wanted to do and she was very good at it. Now she is a hot ass mess but she is an adult. There is not much she can do if Britney doesn’t want her involved. My heart would be broken if that was my daughter and I knew basically the whole world had chewed her up and spit her out. Not only that but she has lost her children and it is in their best interest to not be around her.
The author who’s getting paid to work with Lynne, and obviously has a bit of a vested interest in public perception of the book, says Lynne is a decent person. There’s a shocker. I don’t think Lynne is as bad as some of the stage moms out there - people like Dina Lohan or whats-her-face Carter (who managed to pimp out all 5 of her kids before they reached 15), but that doesn’t mean she’s not a stage mom at all. I have to believe a big part of why Britney is the way she is comes down to the fact that her parents enabled her to do whatever she wanted from the time she was 15 or 16 and had a record contract.

Who THRUST her kids into the spotlight? She did. She allowed it, she profitted from it and now she’s left to …well, write a book.

i know britney is grown but it is clear that the mom didnt do too good of a job in raising her right because if she had of her azz would not be so rebellious toward her. plus people need to stop catering to her azz thats whyshe thinks her shit dont stink. she needs to be in my family because my family would damn sure not be there catering to her every need. its a little too late for that now. life is not always about spending money, youd think they would get tired of that junk when there is so much poverty in the world. and these clowns are running around with 2000 purses and 700 shoes and bitchy azz attitudes to the people who made her no talent azz famous.
Lynne failed as a mother and the living legacy of that is Brit-Brit, who sadly is keeping up the tradition!

This will be really interesting to read! I don’t think Lynne has failed as a mother at all. Britney did grow up into a really successful young lady who kept her morals with her for a long time. I think that the industry really corrupted her and made her rebellious and her breakup with Justin, two failed marriages and the ongoing thrashing from the press really just wore her down. That’s not her mother’s fault. Her mom did her bit….Britney’s downfall occurred when she was an adult. It’s not her mother’s job to follow her around all the time and tell her what to do. I’m sure Lynne has tried to talk some sense into Britney, but theres only so much she can do in my opinion. Change can only come from the person and Britney doesn’t seem to want to change.
Britney was pretty damn young when she started. The buck (literally in this case) stops with Mommy and Daddy.
