Ellen Page and Drew Barrymore were the ladies in black as they attended the Los Angeles premiere of Whip It Grauman’s Chinese Theatre in Hollywood last night (September 29).

Black seemed to be the theme for the black carpet premiere as majority of the cast attending were seen in a dress or suit that is dominated with the dark colour.

In addition to the cast, the star-studded event saw members of the L.A. Derby Dolls roller derby team skating down the black carpet as well as performing stunts.

Celebrity attendees on hand to catch Miss Barrymore’s directorial debut cast mates Alia Shawkat, Eve, Andrew Wilson and Daniel Stern, as well as Olivia Wilde, Quentin Tarantino, Serena Williams, Shenae Grimes, Steven Spielberg and Drew’s boyfriend Justin Long.

Whip It! is an adaptation film based on Shauna Cross’ novel Derby Girl. The story centers on Bliss, who is groomed for local beauty pageants by ambitious and haughty mother, and has no clue where her life is going. One day, she discovers an underworld roller derby league and a story of self discovery follows.

It will roll its way into theaters on October 2.
