Queen Elizabeth II blends formality and royal bling in a new portrait by celebrity photographer Annie Leibovitz.
The famed American lenswoman snapped the British monarch to commemorate her six-day visit to the United States. The queen’s May 3-8 trip will be her fourth state visit to the U.S., and comes 50 years after her first, when she was a guest of President Eisenhower.
The photo shows the queen in the White Drawing Room at Buckingham Palace, gazing out toward the palace lawns and dressed in a white fur stole, gold-embroidered evening dress and diamond tiara.
Do we love it?
The shot was inspired by the work of Cecil Beaton. The Queen Mother’s favourite photographer, Beaton was known for the way he placed his subjects in regal surroundings yet managed to capture their human side.

Beautiful shot. I like how the door is open…great signifigance there. I watched The Queen the other night & Helen Mirren totally captured her.
This is a truely beautiful! Thanks for sharing worthwhile “celebrity pics”
Annie’s work is fabulous.
Love it! It’s as if some of the photo has been painted…
That photo really is gorgeous. She is such a complex woman and this photo really does attempt to capture some of that. She obviously doesn’t really like the US too much….50 years since her last visit?? A LOT will have changed since then that’s for sure. I guess when you’re the Queen people come to you.
This is FAB-U-LOUS!! Annie is always able to capture photos that say sooooo much!
According to the AP, the Queen will be attending the Kentucky Derby this year. Perhaps Annie could follow her there and and snap a photo of the Queen going through the drive thru of a KFC on her way to the race.
i hope that’s not real fur! =P
Awesome.
