The boys of The Town were busy filming on the Boston, MA set of their upcoming crime thriller.

While Jon Hamm sweated to the max in his FBI gear, director and co-star Ben Affleck could be seen chilling out by playing on the clock with some baseball memorabilia he purchased while on a break.

Though Ben has truly delved into his work over the past couple of years, the 36-year-old star claims in a new interview that he’s doing less acting these days so that he can spend more quality time with his family.

“That has to do with my family - my wife and I try and work at different times - I’m starting another movie and then I will direct a movie so she’ll take some time off then,” he says.

What’s more? It’s apparently been a conscious decision to move from in front of the camera as actor to behind the camera as director.

“I wanted to change how my life was going in terms of the quality of it. It was a little crazy and I wanted to flush some stuff away, and I thought it would be smart to walk away and take a break and that was a good opportunity for me to direct.”

He adds: “It was about two years I wasn’t in any movies and that was the best thing for me artistically and personally. It got me back centred and grounded, and made me realize what I love doing, making movies, the art of making movies and it’s not about me being on the poster. I want to do things I’m really proud of.”
