Jude Law may have become a father for the fourth time yesterday, but that didn’t stop him from performing on Broadway in Hamlet in New York City this evening (September 23).
In fact, the 37-year-old British actor looked completely unaffected by the news as he happily greeted fans and signed autographs upon leaving the theater.
Jude’s former flame, 24-year-old Samantha Burke, welcomed a baby girl whom she named Sophia. A friend has been quoted as saying: “I doubt Jude was there. Besides the financial support, he’s not involved.”

Oh yes, aren’t “friends” of the mother wonderful? Anyway, how is he supposed to look? He was working, doing his job, and then accommodating fans of his show, not there to see his personal life. One has no idea what goes on inside a person. All this baseless commentary and picking at his bones is completely low class. He hasn’t had time to be involved with his child, the child was just born. He only found out about the child a few weeks ago…a stunning revelation, I’m sure, that has taken some time to get used to, while the mother had the luxury of knowing it for months. Plus, he’s been WORKING (like most people do, instead of waiting to draw a check) on his wonderful Hamlet play. Is it not good enough just to wish everybody the best in a situation that they are going to have to figure out? But then, that would be too classy for the internet people. Nevermind.
Please she is not his former flame, she was a one or two night stand, who he couldn’t even remember until a month ago when she threatened to go to the press. I think she entrapped him, though he was still slack for not putting a condom on. Get a vasectomy Jude!
Why should he be involved or present at the birth? Ms. Burke waited quite a while before informing him about the baby. After she did and he requested privacy she’s done nothing but talk to the press about wanting privacy *snort* Nothing suggests she really wants him involved in the childs life which is a shame given how good a father he seems to be to his other children.
jude law is noted for being the most hands on father to his three children. everyone knows that. this woman did not tell him a word about this child until a month or so ago. there was no relationship. just two single people doing what most single people do. jude is extremely bright. he’ll figure it out and he will do the right thing. in the meantime he’s one of the best hamlets of this or any other cenury. tremendous performance. let’s give this man a break.
