JULIA ROBERTS UPSETS RELIGIOUS FOLKS IN INDIA

Julia Roberts has starting filming the “pray” part of Eat, Pray, Love. Here she is with ashram owner Swami Dharmdev in Pataudi on the outskirts of New Delhi, India, yesterday (September 22).

Some villagers in India are unhappy because the filming - being done in a temple - is interrupting Navratri, an important religious festivals.

While a spokeswoman for Sony Pictures Entertainment declined comment, Hindu and Jewish leaders have urged the Oscar winner and makers of the movie to immediately provide unconditional access to area devotees to the Hindu temple in Pataudi, which had been reportedly closed for shooting.

The shooting, which began Sunday, is expected to last about 2-3 weeks.

All I can say is I enjoyed the book, but the way they’re manipulating the characters is sickening. What’s wrong with they way the book presented life? I love Javier, but the man in the book was older and does not look like a gorgeous lead man. Neither was Elizabeth dressed like a model. A big roll of the eyes here.

I really enjoyed the book, but I get the feeling that the movie will make quite a few changes as anon1 has said. I don’t like it when that happens too much, the Shopaholic movie was nowhere near as enjoyable as the book because of that. And they should not be closing important religious sites just for the movie. If they want to film there they should put up with the crowds.
