The New York Daily News heard from pals Aretha Franklin say that Jennifer Hudson is the front-runner to play the Queen of Soul in the stage adaptation of her Highness’ life.
I think Jen would be fabulous as a young Aretha. The problem is that she thinks so, too. With the whole Oscar thing in her pocket, Jennifer is not the picture of humility these days. She definitely has talent, but I’m pretty sure the public is already sick of her.

She might be able to pull it off but she would definitely have to tone it down with all the gesturing & screaming.

Yeah she is getting slightly annoying but she really is a fantastic actress and this role would be good for her. Not sure if she could pull of some of the years where Aretha is skinny though….she would have to lose some weight for that. I would rather Jennifer any day over Beyonce….she is kidding herself if she can act. Hilary duff is a better actress than that girl and her voice just reminds me of a dying cat. She actually does have a good voice but she tries to show it off too much with her vocal gymnastics. Some of that is ok but its just stupid all the time and sounds too forced.
i’ve also noticed a change in j.hud- she went from being really sweet and excited bout it all to just expecting the awards. i mean good on her, she’s talented and i think she could play aretha but i just hope she doesn’t become a diva!
