Maria Shriver says that she has retired from her TV news career because of the media’s overcoverage of Anna Nicole Smith’s death.
Shriver, speaking Tuesday at a women’s conference, noted the media circus surrounding Smith’s accidental drug overdose death in February.
“It was then that I knew that the TV news business had changed and so had I,” she said. “I called NBC News and told them I’m not coming back.”
So, wait a minute — Maria’s career consisted of more than just sharing the occasional Kennedy cookie recipe on various Oprah specials?
Who knew?

I was soooo sick of seeing coverage of her death also. I feel bad that the woman obviously had drug issues and a whole lot of enablers hanging on but damn she was a grown woman. Even now each time you turn on the tv it is either Dannilynn’s birthday or the two baby daddys are fighting with someone. I agree TV sucks ass.
I don’t watch much TV but isn’t it just the tabloid shows that are still talking about it? Entertainment Tonight and The Insider and crap like that?
cool! i can’t stand looking at skeletor.
How old is that photo, and what does trashing Shriver have to do with the press coverage of Smith’s death?
What about the OJ trail or the Michael Jackson stories over a decade ago? Or the Paris Hilton being arrested or the endless Britney mess we have to hear about? I don’t know how she can just pinpoint it to the Anna Nicole stories, when there are soooo many overexposed stories that the media can’t stop reporting about.
Is she picking her teeth with that business card???
Shriver was an actual journalist, for those of you who don’t know.
That is one ugly woman.
