While the divas were partying on the east coast, Hollywood Latinos gathered on the west coast for the 2009 ALMA Awards held at Royce Hall in Los Angeles tonight (September 17).
Lead by big screen beauty Salma Hayek, a slew of actors, singers and entertainers stepped out to honor Latinos’ achievement in television, film, sports and music.
Executive produced and hosted by Eva Longoria since 2007, the ALMA Awards had been an off-and-on, and often low key, event since 1995.
“The ALMA Awards is a special show because it represents the determined spirit and soul of the Latino people,” says the Desperate Housewives actress in a statement.
This is the first time the ALMA Awards have aired during Hispanic Heritage Month, which kicked off September 15.
Celebrity attendees making a splash at the celeb-packed soiree included the likes of Benjamin Bratt, George Lopez, Jamie-Lynn Sigler, Jesse Metcalfe, Kat Von D, Mario Lopez, Nelly Furtado, Roselyn Sanchez and Disney darling Selena Gomez.

Uh, Salma. Uh huh. Not a good look.
really? aw.. i think she fucking looks SOOO GOOD!
Salma looks awfully thin, I wish women would hold onto their curves and overturn this obsession with being skinny.
Salma dress is too “minimal” and boxy to show curves. Perhaps she wanted a change to the always super curvy ones she wears. Her hair do is ugly! Not very good styling here overall.
These awards are part of LA RAZA a racist group that encourages illegal immigration and sucking off the US taxpayers.
Kat Von D looks like an idiot.
I don’t agree.. Kat looks great! Besides, she is a tattoer and rock star. she’ll never dress any pink dress
