The Canadian pop punkstress announced the separation in a blog posting on her MySpace page today (September 17) after endless speculation.
“Deryck and I are separating and moving forward on a positive note,” 24-year-old Avril writes. “Thank you to all my family, friends and fans for all your support.”
The pair began dating in 2004 and had been together for two years when they got engaged during a trip to Venice, Italy in 2005. They married on July 15, 2006 in Montecito, CA when Avril was just 21 and Deryck was 25.
In her brief blog entry, Miss Lavigne wrote about the time they spent together.
“Deryck and I have been together for six-and-a-half years. We have been friends since I was 17, started dating when I was 19, and married when I was 21. I am grateful for our time together, and I am grateful and blessed for our remaining friendship.”
“I admire Deryck and have a great amount of respect for him. He is the most amazing person I know and I love him with all my heart.”

Well we all knew this was coming. I think she was just too young, and she certainly doesn’t come across as the most mature person around. It’s always sad to see relationships break up, but it’s good that they are still speaking highly of each other and are taking the high road.

I love Avril, I think she is actually very talented and her fist two albums were amazing, and her 4th album is slated to be more like her first 2 albums. Her fashion line has been out for over a year and it has been highly successful. I am sorry that Avril and Deryck grew apart they seemed like a great couple. I wish them both a happy life.
