Lead by Melissa Etheridge, Kelly Clarkson and Jordin Sparks, the red carpet was packed with singers, songwriters and performers who redefine the term “girl power” as we know it.
For the first time ever J.Hud, Jordin along with Adele, Kelly Clarkson, Leona Lewis and Miley Cyrus will perform together live on the same stage.
The fabulous Paula Abdul is also set to join as host for the evening. The VH1 Divas concert event will be televised live on VH1 in only moments.
In addition to individual performances by the Divas, the show will also feature a lineup of incredible duets. India.Arie will sing with Adele, Stevie Wonder will sing with J.Hud, Martina McBride will sing with Miss Sparks, Etheridge will sing with Clarkson, Cyndi Lauper will sing with Leona, and Sheryl Crow will sing with teen sensation Miley Cyrus.
Toni Braxton, Lauren Conrad, Whitney Port, Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb, meanwhile, will also grace the stage as presenters at the star-studded event along with Real Housewives star Bethenny Frankel, Kim Zolciak and Nene Leakes.
In previous years, Divas has featured the biggest female names in the music industry, from Aretha Franklin, Mariah Carey, Celine Dion, Tina Turner, Cher, Whitney Houston, Mary J. Blige and Beyonce.
Each year, one of these lovely ladies has herself apart from the rest of the pack. Who will sing louder at tonight’s show? Hudson or Clarkson? Or will fan fave Miley steal the spotlight and elevate herself to veritable diva status? Alas, time will only tell….

Give me the original divas anyday. Celine, Mariah, Whitney, Toni…they are true superstars whose music will be around forever. I feel like some of these new divas are just kind of one hit wonders at this stage. Sure Leona and Jordin have good voices, but they haven’t really been around that long or have many hits. And Miley? She’s a little tween star who let’s be honest, really doesn’t have a good voice at all. People are a little quick to call someone a superstar these days.
Kelly surprisingly looks tiny next to Jordin. Jennifer Hudson should avoid shiny fabrics bc I can’t tell if she’s had her baby or if she’s still pregnant.
