With lightsaber in hand, President Barack Obama was “eager to welcome the world to our shores” at an event today (September 16) on the South Lawn to promote Chicago’s bid to host the 2016 Olympic games.
Next month, the International Olympic Committee will meet in Copenhagen to decide among Chicago, Tokyo, Madrid, and Rio de Janeiro. Political leaders from the selected countries will also make their way to Denmark to lobby IOC members, but Obama will stay back to deal with the health care debate. “The good news is I’m sending a more compelling superstar to represent the city and country we love so much,” he says.
That, of course, would be none other than First Lady Michelle Obama. After the pres showed off his some of his skills while goofing around with the athletes, Lady O said: “You should have seen the president in there fencing — it was pathetic.”
