Joined by Kanye West and Rihanna, rapper Jay-Z performed to a sold out crowd at Madison Square Garden Friday night (September 11) for his ‘Answer to Call’ concert, which paid tribute to the police officers and firefighters who died on September 11, 2001.

The Pledge of Allegiance kicked off the show, and Jay-Z followed with some New York anthems, including Empire State of Mind, with Alicia Keys.

Others special guests included Beyonce, John Mayer, Diddy and Mary J. Blige.

Says Jay-Z: “I’m a native New Yorker and the strength and resiliency of New Yorkers makes me proud. This was my chance to do something for the great city of New York and help create more awareness of the New York Police & Fire Widows’ and Children’s Benefit Fund.”
