Cate Blanchett suffered a head injury today (September 2) when she was hit by a prop during a live performance in Sydney.
The 40-year-old actress was performing in A Streetcar Named Desire at The Sydney Theatre Company, when another cast member accidentally hit her in the head with a radio. She went down on all fours and was bleeding.
“She had blood streaming down the back of her head and blood on the back of her neck,” an audience member is quoted as saying. “She acted for about another 30 seconds, then ran into what we thought was the next scene, but before we knew it the lights were turned on and we were told there were technical difficulties and everyone had to evacuate the Sydney Theatre Company.”
Sydney Theatre Company spokesman Tim McKeogh calls the injury a “minor accident’. He says, “Everyone is fine. Cate was injured, she got a bump on the head but we’re confident she will be on stage (tomorrow night).”
Cate’s injury was apparently looked at while she was at the theatre and she did not need to go to hospital for treatment.
Now get some rest!
