RACHEL RAY IS BAD FOR YOUR KIDS

rachel-ray-sucks.jpg

Finally!!

Someone is speaking out on the evils of Trans Fat queen Rachel Ray.

Celebrity chef Anthony Bourdain takes on Oprah’s latest find and her big-money deal to endorse Dunkin’ Donuts in next month’s Outside magazine.

He says: “She’s got a magazine, a TV empire, all these best-selling books - I’m guessing she’s not hurting for money. She’s hugely influential, particularly with children. And she’s endorsing Dunkin’ Donuts. It’s like endorsing crack for kids.”

If Bourdain goes after Dr. Phil and his mockery of psychotherapy next, he will officially be my new idol.

wow! ever heard of moderation? I think it’s fine for kids to have a donut once in a while. It’s more important to make sure your kids are being ACTIVE! Also, you conveniently left off the rest of the article which points out that she is working with Dunkin’ Donuts to create some healthier menu choices, such as low carb bagels, etc.

I agree with Anthony as well. As for Dunkin Donuts, I haven’t seen anything that reflects healthier menu choices, I did notice they’ve raised their prices.

God forbid PARENTS should be responsible for what their kids eat…yeah, lets blame Rachel Ray because American kids are getting heavier…

PSL, we don’t have any dunkin donuts near me either, I’m originally from the Boston area and I miss them! Whenever we are able to go north again, I always have to stop and get a Boston Creme, there’s nothing like them! Also, you’ve been kinda quiet the past few days, it was weird!

Ok, are you kidding me???? Two questions: 1) When did Rachael Ray become a role model to children?? and 2) When did Dunkin Donuts market anything to kids???? What an idiotic argument. Dunkin can keep their donuts but they make the best coffee out there.

    I’m confused by this post.

“Someone is speaking out on the evils of Trans Fat queen Rachel Ray. Celebrity chef Anthony Bourdain takes on Oprah’s latest find and her big-money deal to endorse Dunkin’ Donuts in next month’s Outside magazine.”

What does it have to do with Rachel Ray?

  13. October-17-2007 @ 9:34 am

i just wish she would stop playing with her hair over the food, all that ole long stuff all over the food.

  14. October-17-2007 @ 9:37 am

THERE ARE NO TRANS FATS AT DUNKIN DONUTS!!!!!!!!!!!! They got rid of them like all of the other fast food chains! Trans fats ae hard to find these days 99% of food out there does not contain trans fat. Nutritional ignorance is a pet peeve. Do the research!

Honestly I can’t remember ever seeing a donut shop advertising. Shipley’s is big down here, you never see it advertised and every morning they have lines around the corner.

  16. October-17-2007 @ 10:05 am

    owned.

That said Bourdain is not without his vices.

I can’t STAND RR. She’s an idiot. How did this woman get an empire? And, trans fat isn’t just about a fatty snack for kids…trans fat has been linked to serious health problems and a rise in the development of asthma..so yeah, give your kid a donut and let him deal with carrying around an inhaler for the rest of his life. nice.

sorry…my brother and I, along with my cousins ate donuts from time to time when we were growing up… and NONE of us have asthma. I think that’s kind of silly to say that if you give a kid a donut, they’ll have asthma!

Lolalola - Rachel Ray doesn’t have an empire, Oprah does, RR is her second stooge (#1 is Dr. Phil).

I love Bourdain, too, Divina! He smokes too much, drinks too much and he probably has a few other vices he doesn’t discuss but, hey, he is soooo cool…..his comment about RR aside……… I’d hang with him.

  22. October-17-2007 @ 12:01 pm

Rachel Ray’s endorsement deal with Dunkin’ Donuts is for their coffee (iced coffee to be exact) and not the donuts.
    .
And I too agree with Beth…as a parent of 3, if I felt something was unhealthy and my kids ‘begged’ me to buy it - it was a swift “no” and a look that said, “don’t ask me again.” They knew when I was serious. By the way, an occasionally donut won’t hurt anyone. People, be responsible for yourselves…why blame Rachel?

peroosal, you are absolutely wrong about trans fats being hard to find these days. Anything with (partially) hydrogenated oils has trans fats. A cursory sweep of the grocery store will unearth a ton.

CaliGirl, you’re wrong. I’ve seen the commercials with RR pushing the dougnuts.

I think Bourdain is RIGHT ON for giving the smackdown to RR whoring herself out to DD. No self-respecting chef would ever endorse that shit. Real chefs are all about fresh, tasty, innovative foods. It says plenty (and none of it good) about RR’s image as a “chef” that she’s doing this.

Second, DDs are greasy, disgusting fat-bombs. You want doughnuts, you get Krispy Kremes, end of story. And if you don’t have a Krispy Kreme near you, you don’t eat doughnuts, and you cry yourself to sleep at night because a hot, fresh Krispy Kreme glazed is the nearest you’ll get to heaven in this lifetime.

Trans fats or not, Dunkin’Donuts are gross, and shouldn’t be eaten under any circumstances.

Third, DD coffee sucks the big one. God, I’d rather drink Starbucks, or coffee from the gas station, than that swill DD serves. Panera and Atlanta Bread serve much better coffee than DD can ever hope to.

Also, if you scan the list of ingredients at this link, you will see that Dunkin’ Donuts products DO in fact contain trans fats.

i dont like her at all

  28. October-17-2007 @ 2:22 pm

she is just for the camera because i agree if she was so into cooking why doesnt she put that long ass hair up and why is it getting longer with weave. the show is about cooking not how cute you can be. dont like her at all and she could not fix me any food with hair hanging like that. I DONT LIKE HAIR IN MY FOOD.!

    Starbucks sucks ASS.
the only time I drink that shit is when I’m out of town……at least I know what to expect.
as good as KK donuts are, DD are yummy too………so calm down just askin! You’re getting pretty worked up over stupid donuts and coffee……lol

    October-17-2007 @ 4:58 pm

lol, all I have near me is Krispy Kreme, so therefore, I don’t eat donuts! Unless I go some place that has a Dunkin Donuts. I guess it’s just a matter of personal opinion! And Rachel Ray has never claimed to be a chef, she’s not classically trained, she just likes to cook.

    October-17-2007 @ 5:29 pm

Calm down yourself, PSL. No need to get all upset at my opinion–it wasn’t directed at you. You voice your opinion strongly too, in case you haven’t ever read your own entries.

DD coffee and doughnuts are completely and thoroughly revolting. Rachel Ray should be embarassed to be shilling for them.

    October-17-2007 @ 5:33 pm

A Tim Horton’s donut trumps every last donut out there. You can get them in Canada and parts of New England. Their coffee is good too. DD and KK cannot hold a candle to Tim Horton’s.

  33. October-17-2007 @ 7:36 pm

The dude chef has a good point….but he is assuming that she will in fact be doing al the bad deeds, when they have not even happened…that is called demonizing somebody. Bad bad chef dude. Your greed is being revealed….
