Usher is certainly enjoying the single life.
Taking a break from his hectic recording schedule, the 30-year-old R&B crooner was all smiles as he visited La Voile Rouge beach in St Tropez, France today (August 22).
Usher is currently in the process of divorcing his estranged wife Tameka Foster, but it appears that impending singledom is the last of Takema’s worries.
Remember that essay she wrote about beauty for the Huffington Post? It was titled: ‘She’s Pretty for a Dark-Skinned Girl.’
She wrote:
“I too have fallen prey, while on vacation in Brazil I decided to undergo tummy lipo-surgery. After having an allergic reaction to the anesthesia, I went into cardiac arrest before the procedure ever began. I nearly lost my life over something as superficial as having a flatter mid-section and trying to adapt to society’s traditional definition of beauty.
“As I nursed my psychological wounds, I began to realize that trying to live up to the prototypes of external beauty paled in comparison to the fact that I have undergone labor, subsequently being blessed to raise five handsome, smart, healthy, intuitive, and happy children. I emerged from my ordeal realizing that my body is an amazing vessel that has given birth to life and that being healthy is what’s important and nothing more.”
Well, Aisha Curry read it and thought it sounded awfully familiar — perhaps because she wrote the book Pretty for a Black Girl last year and tells AOL’s BV Buzz blog that her work was lifted by Miss Foster.
“People were praising her for tackling an issue that had never been exposed. Hello? I wrote the book on it and started it years ago,” says Aisha , a Fresno, CA mom who self-published the 96-page book last year.
She adds, “I cannot and will not say she stole my idea, because you never should assume. However, I will say that it seemed like one heck of a coincidence …”

Oh please about Tameka stealing that idea. That whole “pretty for a dark skinned girl” thing has been going on since forever and every black person in America knows it and is familiar with that phrase. Who does this chick think she’s fooling?
I agree with Luella 100%. This chick is just trying to cash in and get her book out there.
He must be so happy now that he can bone French dudes again.
i never head of it before until i read the article on line last week. i’m glad she’s exposing it because our media is so bias and we only see one kind of beauty and her article show’s how this has hurt women.
So she should sue Tameka’s gold-digging ass for copyright violation. What the hell is she waiting for?
And as far as, “This chick is just trying to cash in…”, don’t make me laugh. What the fuck has Tameka been doing all along? Oh, that’s right–squeezing out as many of Usher’s children as she could during that sham marriage in order to and secure herself some nice little meal tickets.
