Just announced: Elisabeth Hasselbeck will still be on maternity leave (she gave birth to Isaiah Timothy Hasselbeck on August 9) when The View returns for its new season on September 8.

Following in the footsteps of American Idol, the daytime talk show will have guest hosts fill in.

First up? Meghan McCain on September 9.

Also confirmed to guest co-host in September is former Fox News Channel anchor E.D. Hill, who will join the ladies on September 23 and 24.
