This just in: After eight seasons, Paula Abdul has decided to leave American Idol.
“With sadness in my heart, I’ve decided not to return to the hit Fox TV singing contest,” Abdul said on Twitter. “I’ll miss nurturing all the new talent, but most of all being a part of a show that I helped from day 1 become an international phenomenon.”
UPDATE: Fox has responded to Paula’s departure with this statement: “Paula Abdul has been an important part of the American Idol family over the last eight seasons and we are saddened that she has decided not to return to the show. While Paula will not be continuing with us, she’s a tremendous talent and we wish her the best.”

Big mistake. The show will tank without Paula. I personally haven’t watched it in years. Good riddance to that piece of crap show.
why can’t the stupid show go off the air? it’s the worst thing to happen to music.
Not sure I can watch anymore, I can’t stand the new girl. There is no loyalty any more. How much does Idol make in a year? How much have they made since the beginning? They underestimate the importance of Paula to the equation. This is the beginning of the end, the chemistry is gone.
Like Paula has just SO MANY OTHER OFFERS waiting on the table for her. It’s stupid of her to kiss this gravy train goodbye, but “stupid” pretty much sums up Paula, anyway.
I predict we’ll see her resurface on “Celebrity Rehab” in about 5 years…
Paula, Kara and Dawg are a drag on the show.
They need new life blood.
Someone feisty like Jennifer Lopez, but it would be a downgrade for her career, cause she still looks young enough for movies.
