Award show darling America Ferrera hit up the first Hispanic Women in Entertainment breakfast at the Roosevelt Hotel this morning in Hollywood.

The ‘Ugly Betty’ beauty was given The Hollywood Reporter and Billboard’s Hispanic Woman Of The Year Award.

Congratulations, mamacita!

    very cute dress.

Personally, I hate events like these and tv-shows (BET) that separates one race from the others. If skincolor is something we’re all supposed to look passed, different races shouldn’t have separate awardshows.
America bores me, she has absolutely no personality IMO.

  3. Supersonic Says:

I think she’s just reserved not that she doesn’t have personality. People like Will Ferell are also surprisingly shy and awkward but anyway, I agree about the seperation and most black folk think BET is full of offensive stereotypes and seems happy to perpetuate these.
Annnnyyyywaaay….I like America, she’s cute and has a good normal figure, its average sure but its the typical shape of most women and its good to see some variety on the red carpet. Its not the ONLY shape ‘real’ women come in but its healthy and thats always good.

I thought BET Award,ALMA awards, Latin Grammys, telemundo, BET, TV one etc.. were about culture, not skin color. I think its fine if, black and hispanic people want to celebrate their culture, its not like they don’t invite white people, LOL!!! I think you guys are reading into this way too much.

so like…who’s the ‘caucasian american woman of the year?’

  6. BeJeeBus Says:

Good think Adam isn’t patronizing at all..

  7. Miss Says:

I do think it’s racist that theres recognition for other races but not white. I do understand that other races have suffered perjustices and still do but I still think its segregating.

wait, did you just use sarcasm to berate my sarcasm?
sweet…i had to bejeebus! it’s not like i was just going to repeat your comment even though i agree completely!

  9. grr Says:

Her head is ginormous! It’s a trend with the likes of America, Rachel Ray and Kelly Clarkson. Ugh.

  10. Aysla Says:

Yep, lets stick up for recognition of the white woman/man/hermaphrodite/milk carton of the year… because like, celebs of the caucasian majority hardly ever get on magazine covers, tabloids or win awards nearly as much as the minorities! I mean, like– someone’s totally got to stick up for them! Oh me, oh my, oh the humanity.

Feel free to jump down my throat now, adam :o).

I agree about it being a celebration of culture (in the case of the ALMA awards, more like), more than distinguishing race. I’m a naturalized citizen… but I was born in the D.R. and am also half Peruvian, and I’m not suddenly going to relinquish that part of my culture (of course, American culture is my culture too). I don’t see what’s wrong with having a public platform in celebration and recognition of it; where else would I look to for it? I also agree with Supersonic’s comment (or at least your comment about some people’s views) about BET being detrimental…….. it just perpetuates unhealthy stereotypes (ala Boondocks: “booty butt cheeks, booty butt cheeks butt!”

  11. Aysla Says:

    ^Heh, I hope someone here watches Boondocks… ;o)

I agree with you BJB. It’s great that people are able to celebrate their race and successful people but with so many wars in the world and racism being such a problem in the US, I don’t think it does anything to promote unity in our country. I can kind of see both sides of the argument I guess. I’m not a huge fan of America though….although I do think she’s very funny in Ugly Betty.

    I love her…CONGRADULATIONS….WELL DONE YOU!!!!
