Following the latest batch of troubles in Britney Spears’ life, a member of the unfit mother’s family is speaking out.
“Everything that could go wrong is going wrong,” says Britney’s aunt, Chandra McGovern. “Everything’s spiraling downhill.”
And while she is quick to point out that Britney “brought it on herself,” she is still concerned for her niece’s welfare.
“We are worried that things are going to spiral out of control, that instead of her turning to her family, she’s going to turn to the friends she’s been hanging with,” says McGovern. “I believe Britney needs to take a break, she needs to be with her family, get back to her roots and come back down to Earth. Once you do that, then you can get your children back and live your life.”

I don’t think this is bashing. Sounds more like a last ditch effort to reach her. I reckon Brit’s not taking too many calls from family members these days. But that photo is extreme. Even her ears look dysfunctional.

Are we forgetting that her father talking to her is what sent her to rehab? She hates them all for that and they can’t get back in touch with her.
I don’t think it is about them not wanting to help. What the hell was her distant aunt from her home town supposed to do? If she refuses to listen to her own parents then I doubt she is going to listen to her. Maybe this is the only way to send their message to her. Britney was pretty defiant and wanted more than anyone to just be a star. Remember when she was 16/17 and on the cover of Rolling Stone on the phone in her panties. Read the artticle attached to it and you will get a glimpse of this even back then. Her parents didn’t want her like that on the cover. She locked her bedroom door and stripped down like that in her family’s home and let the photog take that pic. He even says in the interview she was fame hungry and he was shocked that she did that so young.
Agreed 2cents, it seemed between the two kids when she one by one dropped everyone in her “management team” the “real Britney” came out.

Her life might been a trainwreck, but the single “Gimme More” soars from 68 to 3 on the Billboard Charts. I guess people must still like the music or feel sorry for her.
She controls about 5% of the finished product on her album. She doesn’t write the songs, she doesn’t handle the music, she may not even be singing without the help of a machine that keeps her on note.

Baby One More Time, was already triple platinum, but Spears was only seventeen and still living with her parents in her Kentwood, Louisiana, childhood home. Which is where David LaChapelle and his crew spent two days snapping the pop star, in her element.
Spears and LaChapelle both say they knew the photo would cause a bit of commotion, but they figured it was worth it. “I said to her, ‘You don’t want to be buttoned up, like Debbie Gibson,’ ” LaChapelle recalls. “I said, ‘Let’s push it further and do this whole Lolita thing.’ She got it. She knew it would get people talking and excited.” Spears proved, even then, that she was going to take charge of crafting her own image. One night while they were shooting, LaChapelle says, Spears’ manager, Larry Rudolph, walked in at 2 a.m. to find her posing in her bra and panties. Rudolph demanded to know what was going on. “Britney said, ‘Yeah, I don’t feel comfortable,’ ” says the photographer. “At first I felt betrayed. But as soon as Larry walked out, Britney said, ‘Lock the door’ and unbuttoned her shirt wide open.”
Says Spears, “Holy Roller religious people made such a big deal about that photo, and I didn’t really get it. That’s the way I’ve always been, and I thought that photo was a good representation of who I really am.”
This is all moot. Dr Phil is going to talk about Britney tomorrow on his show. He’ll fix everything so quit worrying.

Wow, that’s pretty interesting my2cents. But not all that surprising considering that she was only 19 when she did the strip tease on the MTV awards. That’s still young. I seriously think her aunt needs to stfu. It’s not helping matters at all. She’s already mad at her family so just be quiet. Like anon mentioned, Dr. Phil said matter-of-factly that he knows exactly what’s wrong with her and has a solution. Of course, she won’t listen to anyone. I personally don’t think this is all about bi-polarism and all of that. I think she very well may have had post-partum and the fact that she wanted so badly to be loved and have something to love only led to her downward spiral. She was desperate for affection. We have to remember that this all started after she filed for divorce. From all appearances, she was fine during her pregnancy with Sean. She didn’t want to be pregnant again immediately and that messed her up and then while pregnant with Jayden she realized that she was married to a freeloading loser. I think that’s when the downward spiral began. She knows she royally fucked up and doesn’t know how to correct her mistakes (I don’t mean the kids). Top that with drugs and alcohol and you’ve got a surefire formula for disaster. I’m not making excuses for her actions at all but I think she just serious help. And someone better help quick. I honestly feel that if she can’t get her kids back and she winds up having to pay Kevin any child support she’s going to really lose it. I wouldn’t rule out suicide at that point, as tragic as that would be. I feel bad for the girl because this is some sad shit.
Good for the aunt to speak out! I’m sure the family has been trying for years now and Brit finally just cut them out. I mean, she used to hang out with her mom and her sister, now you never see them together.
And I agree that Britney needs a break, and WE need a break from her! I’m tired of reading about her and seeing her pictures. Can’t she go to a deserted island for a few years and then come back??? And take Paris and Lindsey with you!
hitman, I don’t know why that is. That song is not very good, and there’s not even a video to it! But I did read that according to the tabloids, all the covers that Britney was on were the least selling covers. LOL!
my2cents, it reminds me of the skit they did on MadTV on Britney back when she first came out. Her mom had her dressing slutty and the director really got off on her being underage and underdressed. Then they did a video called “Lick my baby back behind” lol
Sounds like this Aunt has a good head on her shoulders but instead of talking about it to the media why doesn’t she get in there and try and do something about it. The family really needs to band together and not give up on Britney. She has most likely been their biggest breadwinner for years and now its time for them to do her a favor. Where has Britney’s mother been throughout all this? Seriously if I was in Britney’s condition I wouldn’t want my mom to give up on me. Family is the answer to Britney’s problems if you ask me.
