Taking in the sights and scenery, Karl Lagerfeld spent some time in Saint Tropez on vacation yesterday (July 11).
The German-born fashion designer took to the town for some personal shopping with a few friends that looked more like his models and walking billboards.
Mr. Lagerfeld presented his fall 2009 Chanel couture collection in Paris last week. Rumours were buzzing that he might soon retire and let Alber Elbaz take his place at Chanel.
Not true.
Karl says he’s going to die with his boots on. He also mentioned that Alain Wertheimer, whose family owns Chanel, said he would sell the house when the designer leaves.

There’s no way Karl would leave Chanel. It has become his life and without fashion he would just be a strange, eccentric man. I have read his book and while I find him to be very interesting and no doubt a genius with his work, he is just very arrogant and actually very closed minded. I would hate to life out my life like that, but then I guess a lot of people in the fashion industry are that way. Look at Anna Wintour! Her whole life is a big act, constantly minding herself and trying to be ‘cool’.
I dont wear anything with designer’s names on them , they wont have me a walking billboard for them and not paying me a dime.. pleas i will wear American eagle or anything with out a designers name on it!
