The Philippine government is asking for an apology from ABC and ‘Desperate Housewives’ for a racial slur against Filipino medics.
Teri Hatcher’s character asked about the person attending to her during a medical consultation, saying, “Can I check those diplomas because I want to make sure that they’re not from some med school in the Philippines.”
According to government officials, it’s a racial slur to Filipino professionals.
Will T.Hatch and Co. apologize? Well, that simply depends on the Filipino demographic marketshare.

Perhaps the Phillipines Government should deal with the immense poverty, human rights violations etc etc … in their country before worrying about a fictitous t.v show … idiots!
I watched that and thought she said the Caribbeans…oh, well…either way, I laughed when she said it…sorry. Not!

what did they expect? yeah, whatever is right. and it is a third world country, so… shut up and clean up a bit then maybe peope will take you seriuosly. but i doubt that… especially after seeing what they do in prisons
Why the hell do people ask for apologies? That makes no sense whatsoever to me. Do people really want an apology that someone gives merely to shut you the eff up?
I can kind of see it from both sides here I guess. There are definately very highly educated doctors in the Phillipines but I don’t think that the show was directing it at them at all. It’s a widely known fact that there are places where you can obtain dodgy medical licenses…and a lot of those places are located in South East Asia and the Phillipines area. They should have phrased it a bit differently and tried not to mention any specific country or region at all but I think the Phillipines doctors are overreating a little bit. And Britney mentioned them in their new song so that should make up for it lol.
Filipino nurses and doctors are being recruited to work in America/UK.

I do think the comment is a bit racist. I agree with whoever asked “who is still watching this show?”
Of course its racist. The show is crap and I hope it gets cancelled next season.
