Golden Globe Award-winning actress Natalie Portman gets a little emotional as she speaks at a conference at Stanford University campus in Palo Alto, CA on Tuesday about a campaign against global poverty.
The former Harvard alum spoke with students in the Graduate School of Business program about microfinance, and the importance of young people getting involved with social action.
Micro-credit loans have been around for forever, but gained international recognition as a means to battle poverty last year when Bangladeshi economist Muhammad Yunus and the bank he founded won the Nobel Peace Prize.
Natalie has been working hard on her many philanthropic projects. She recently starred alongside Kyra Sedgwick and Chloe Sevigny in ‘The Bulb‘, a video project explaining how an action as simple as changing a light bulb can help reverse the effects of greenhouse gases.
Now let’s just hope the 26-year-old star takes a well-deserved break real soon. The normally flawless beauty is looking a little rough around the edges.

wait….if she graduated from Harvard, won’t she always be a Harvard graduate? “former” doesn’t work here.
I am not used to seeing her with hair- she’s had super short hair forever….she is so pretty, but I think she should have left her nose alone- it’s too thin now.

She has a lot of potential, but there is something missing.

She does look tired. At least she is one celebrity with an actual education so when she talks she doesn’t sound like she is talking out of her ass. (Like Angelina). Sorry I couldn’t stop myself. Something about her lately gives me the depression vibe like she is not happy or something. JMO.

Angelina doesn’t take out her ass, she talks from her heart. What she has seen and experienced in the refugee camps is expressed in her body language and words. Second, education does not necessarily have to come from a school or organized institution; in fact, I find the best education is education through experience.
To get on topic… she does look a little tired, maybe preparing for all the discussions and talks + traveling has got to here. This was her second stop, she’s also going to UCLA later I hear.

She doesn’t look rough. THANK YOU K-OS and if Angelina was talking out of her ass not even her good looks could get her the kind of respect from credible authorities on the issues she’s talking about she is getting. You may not buy it or believe it but she must know her stuff if they are listening. ALSO what the fuck? If you hated Natalie and loved Angelina god forbid (!) then you’d say the exact same thing about Natalie. I think you’re being a bit too biased my2cents. Love ya but come on, when will Angie ever be right for you?

I like her. She’s young, intelligent, educated and seemingly down-to-earth.

She reminds me of Audrey Hepburn - beautiful, talented, driven to help others, but a little sad and hard to read/reach.

Uhm, never.

rough around the edges? She barely has any makeup on and to me she still looks flawless. I love how she lives her life. She’s so selfless; she has so much and gives it right back to the world.
